Since we are in the age of competitive esports talking on a more mainstream appearance and audience, two Blizzard games are going to be represented in the upcoming Asian Games taking place in Indonesia later this summer. Both StarCraft II and Hearthstone will be represented on the main stage along with other athletes competing in areas like track & field, swimming and more. It’s definitely awesome to see these two games taking the main stage, but we discuss our thoughts on esports being at an Olympic level.
With the Hearthstone community just waiting for the day we get an announcement about the first Hearthstone expansion to drop since the departure of Ben Brodes from Blizzard, the littlest thing gives the community hope. This past week the Hearthstone team teased an upcoming social gathering taking place in Brazil, but the community got a little too excited we were going to get an announcement. But Blizzard quickly stepped in to debunk those rumors. What when will we get a Hearthstone expansion announcement you ask? On typical Blizzard fashion… soon™️.
The Heroes of the Storm is becoming known for just pumping out awesome new and exciting content on a regular basis. They are quickly taken over StarCraft’s reign as best community communicating team at Blizzard. This past week they announced not one, but three upcoming Reddit AMAs dates. They will be answering questions about art and animation, matchmaking, and design over the next few months. So get your questions ready, we have ours ready to go!
Recently Blizzard rolled out a new feature in Overwatch that gives players the option to make custom groups using their Group Finder. What could possibly go wrong with this type of feature? The Overwatch community accepted the challenge and immediately started making groups to Throw matches, derank and just straight up troll their opponents. Normally we say to each their own, but this week, our conversation spills over from our main show and into the Frozen Nerdz After Dark discussion.
If you are new to World of Warcraft, or just want to a history lesson, now is your chance to get just that. A group of Developers, Designers and more sat down with the Wire to cover the History of World of Warcraft from an insider perspective. If you have 50 mins to spare, we definitely recommend checking it out!
We’ve talked about people selling in-game services like raid carries, boosts, arena wins, etc for real life money and the steps Blizzard took against those types of services. Well, as of late Blizzard has taken it a step further where they are no longer allowing in-game gold services to be listed in the in-game Group Finder. This comes from people selling their services cross servers which is requiring buyers to transfer gold, or it leads to real life money exchanges which are against the terms of service. This doesn’t mean you can’t sell them in trade or other looking for group chat channels. This is a step in the right direction, but how do you feel about this type of change?
