Episode 204 – “%$@#ing Personal Loot”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 204 called “%$@#ing Personal Loot.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, April 29th, 2018.

On this week’s show, we go over our past week in video games before we move onto talking about recent changes to our Patreon and the introduction of the Frozen Nerdz After Dark podcast. Then we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion starting the week off talking about Dive Comp in Overwatch League before we move onto talking about StarCraft Arcade Premium content, Monster Hunts added to the Witchwood, and changes coming to Symmetra. Then we move onto talking about World of Warcraft. This week we talk about Battle for Azeroth becoming a full beta, and then we recap the latest Developer Q&A.

But no episode would be complete without us talking about a Blizzard Arcade game and this week we are talking about one called Woof! And then before you know it, it’s time for us to say our weekly goodbyes.

We talk about it within the show, but make sure you listen to the very end of the podcast to listen to the edited version of the first episode of the Frozen Nerdz After Dark podcast that will be available for everyone to listen to this week, but will be available on Patreon only going forward.

Here are a few ways you can do that!

With Overwatch League in full swing, viewers have started to notice a trend in the matches that has been taking place so far. It’s the same heroes on each team, and each team is running their own version of “Dive Comp.” Dive Comp is a super aggressive team make up that takes all of your fast moving heroes and throws them quickly at the first point on a map. And usually consists of the same heroes like, Genji, Tracer, Zenyatta, Mercy, Lucio, Dva, Winston, etc. And because of this, a lot of people have started to stop watching the Overwatch League due to the repetitiveness. On this weeks show, we discuss changes that can be made, or heroes that could be added to help prevent this same compensation of heroes.

Back at BlizzCon 2014, we sat down and talked with the Blizzard Arcade team and they discussed the possibility of premium content coming to the Arcade to benefit creators. And with the arrival of the StarCraft II Patch 4.3.0 notes, it appears that we already have two premium Blizzard Arcade games available for purchase for $4.99. And in a recent interview about the topic, it was stressed that the major of the money made will be going to creators. With it only being two games, it’s definitely a system that is being tested, and we hope of the sake of content creators within the Blizzard Arcade,  it’s here to stay. To check out the maps available for purchase, or to learn more about the new premium content, check out the official press release.

With the release of The Witchwood within Hearthstone, we didn’t expect to get anything more than a new expansion, but boy were we wrong! This past week, the Monster Hunts was released as a new set of dungeon crawlers within the game. Similar to those that came with Kobolds and Catacombs, you play a set boss, or in this case Monster, and play as one of four Monster Hunters. It’s a great way to test your Hearthstone skills, and to level up heroes you may not play very often. But don’t take our word for it, check it out for yourself today!

We have complained about her before, and we may be complaining about her more in the future. But thankfully Blizzard is taking a look at another major Symmetra rework coming. This time focusing on her lock on beam, her turrets, her ultimates, her teleporter, and her alternate fire. So basically everything! This comes as a great relief since she has become a problem for most in comp and quick play. But will her changes make her more violable or less? The only way to find out is to check her out for yourself when the changes go live on the PTR. Find out how the Nerdz felt by listening to this weeks episode!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The Battle For Azeroth Beta is now live! Make sure you are opt-ed in today so you can join us within the beta!
2.) The Latest Battle for Azeroth Developer Q&A Recap.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Woof 1.7
Type: Hide and Seek
Creator: Samo
Kilroy’s Description: “Yikes, tried to queue alone, just a black map! I mean I want to play this game I want to love this game but I’m not sure how! I know the game is still in development so it has a chance to become a great game, as far as it stands you are either a dog or a zealot and the dogs have to hide from the zealots.”
