It wasn’t a large announcement year for StarCraft, but they did announce that there will be a group commander coming in the form of Han and Horner, and that StarCraft II will be coming free to play. Now, the game won’t be 100% free, but the basics of the game will be available for free while other content will still have to be unlocked through progression and purchases. You can find out everything coming for StarCraft here in the official press release.
CALLED IT! We talked about it before on the show that it would be awesome to see Hanzo and Alexstrasza both enter the Nexus. Well, at the BlizzCon 2017 opening ceremonies Blizzard answered the call and revealed an awesome new cinematic trailer to show off both heroes coming to Heroes of the Storm. Check out the video here, and the press release here.
And just when we were feeling awesome by guessing one thing that Blizzard was going to announce, we got knocked off our high horse quickly when they announced what was going to be next for Hearthstone. We were hoping for a Booty Bay related expansion, but instead we got blind sided Kobolds & Catacombs! From a new single player dungeon style campaign to insane new cards. Check out all the current information about this upcoming expansion here.
As promised, there were no major announcements from the Diablo universe at BlizzCon even though some of us stayed hopeful of a wild surprise. But during one of their community panels, they did drop some major hints about something coming in the near future. They just weren’t ready to show it off just yet. Check out that panel here (requires the virtual ticket)!
Just went we thought we knew how Blizzard’s mind works, they hit us with a massive curveball that knocks us all completely off course. From the original announcement of Overwatch, the question about Blizzneyland was asked, and the response was… maybe. Well, Blizzard has gone straight meta and they added BlizzardWorld into a Blizzard game about Blizzard games?! What?! Does your head hurt yet. Well, prepare your bodies for this awesome ride of adventure that is a Blizzard inspired theme park map coming to Overwatch! You can check it out here.
But thankfully, that wasn’t the only thing Blizzard had up their sleeves. They also revealed the next support hero joining the roster of oddies in Overwatch: Moria. It’s spelled OPAF. She’s a mashup healer that has a weapon like Mei, an orb like Symmetra, and a beam of death like no other. Check out her video here.
We forgot to talk about it on the show, or we just repressed the emotional trauma from the annoucnement, but there was a Reinhardt short that was announced by Darin De Paul who is the voice actor for Reinhardt! Check out the animated short here.
This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:
Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.
Game: The Mist – Paradise Beach Type: Hero Battle Creator: SoulScream Kilroy’s Review: “This game is all about outlasting your opponents and strategizing the best way to survive the many waves that will be coming inbound to destroy your core. Keep yourself alive and your core alive longer than your opponents and you win. This is a fun concept for a game and has a lot of depth to it the AI in the map modes is challenging and the hero designs are clever and fresh. There could certainly have been more instructions on how to prepare yourself for the fights but once you figure this out the game takes off in a whirlwind of fun and challenges. Playable by yourself or against other players however AI players won’t take you on so you will need to bring your friends to truly appreciate this game.”
