As the esports scene gets bigger so do the sponsors! This past week it was announced that McDonald’s will be one of the main sponsors for the upcoming WCS Australia tournament. Does that mean we will start seeing more and more large franchise getting behind esports? What does this mean for the future of small esports organizations? Find out the answers to these two questions and more by checking out this episode!
Ben Brode decided it was time to step away from his rap career and took a page out of Papa Jeff’s book and decided to announce a few changes coming to Hearthstone straight to the camera and onto the YouTubez. (Is that what the cool kids are saying these days?). He talks about changes coming to legendary drop rates, and that it will become extremely rare to get a duplicate legendary going forward. So don’t have fear about crafting one and then getting it for free because the changes coming will make this next to impossible. Is this what Hearthstone needs? Find out on this week’s episode!
They announced it right after we recorded Episode 162, but they gave us the date and price for the upcoming Necromancer pack coming to Diablo. It will release…. TODAY!!!!! And will only cost $14.99 USD. Or… it will be the cost of one WOW Token since you can convert World of Wawrcraft gold to $15 USB BattleNet balance. Will this be the standard for Blizzard going forward? Will we be able to buy new games for 4 WOW Tokens? Find out more about this discussion on this week’s episode!
Partnerships aren’t something new to the industry, but when two powerhouses combine their efforts only good can come from it! This past week it was announced that Overwatch and Twitch will be joining forces to bring us the most amazing esports experience ever, as well as some awesome swag for those people who have Twitch Prime.
This past week, Papa Jeff sat down to give us another Developer Update! This time he talks about the upcoming highlight feature that will give players a chance to record and export their plays of the game, or awesome experiences within a match! He also tackles the lootbox problems that we have been experiencing and talking about! Change is coming!
We know you are sick of people talking about it and your tin foil hat is a little hot in the summer, so here we go! Doomfist semi-confirmed! In the latest PTR build, people have discovered a few things in the crash files like “Summer Event/Doomfist.” They also discovered two additional maps, strings for new skins, and other cosmetic items! So prepare your bodies, minds and mouse clicking fingers for what’s next!
This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:
1.) Duncan Jones talks about what it would be like if he had some say in a Warcraft 2 movie!
2.) Tomb of Sargeras came out, and the Nerdz explored it!
3.) Surprise! There was a Warcraft Reddit AMA this past week!
Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.
Game: Train Type: Survival Creator: Catastrophic Details: This is one fun tough little game, it gets increasingly difficult as you go along. Start by taking control of a train and working together with team mates to drop turrets and gather resources as you complete laps around a circuit all while being attacked by constant waves of Zerg. Don’t let them over run you or the game is over. We certainly enjoyed this game even though it was simple it brought on the challenge and made it quite a lot of fun.
