Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 162 called “Claw Crackers.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, June 18th, 2017.
On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past week in video games before we move onto weekly Top 5 saltiest list from the Warcraft forums, and then we jump into our Blizzard Entertainment discussion. This week we talk about cheaters banned from StarCraft, the Rock the Cabinet 2017 Top 5 finalist revealed, new job postings for the Diablo Team, Overwatch console players not getting what they want, the community wants to see Jeff Kaplan play Overwatch, we talk about how we can’t be part of the Overwatch Open for Amateurs. Then we move onto our World of Warcraft discussion. This week we talk about Holinka leaving the Warcraft team, the unannounced project, and Legendaries in Patch 7.2.5.
But before we go, we talk another awesome game within the Blizzard Arcade called Cow Hunters! And then we say our weekly goodbyes.

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the World of Warcraft universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to Brian Holinka’s announcement of leaving the Warcraft team for an unannounced Blizzard project. You can read more about it here.

From both of us here at the Frozen Nerdz Podcast, we just want to thank Brian for all his hard work and dedication to the World of Warcraft PVP scene over the past 5 years, and we are excited to see what the future holds for him! Congratulations. But remember, you will always be our Batman!
Match fixing isn’t something new to the StarCraft esports scene, but this past week seven Chinese players were given up to two year bans from being able to participate in any or all Blizzard sanctioned events due to match fixing, and/or smurfing. But it’s amazing to us that some players were only given 6 month bans for professional play, are those punishments too light for cheating? Find out more from our discussion on this week’s show!
We talked about the top 10 last week on the show, now it’s time to talk about the Top 5 finalists in this years Rock the Cabinet contest! The Top 5 finalists were decided by the votes from the community, and now the Top 5 will be put up against Blizzard employees to see which games prove to be this years best Co-Op creation! We successfully picked 4 of the Top 5 games, but how did your favorite games hold up in the voting? Find all the results here!
There are lots of rumors running around the internet that StarCraft isn’t going to be the only game that gets remastered or updated for current gaming systems. This past week it was noticed that Blizzard is hiring for a Diablo position that would be working on making the original Diablo game updated for new systems! But does that mean we will get a remastered version of the game, or just an updated playable version? The world may never know! Check out more of what we are talking about here.
As we all patiently wait for the Necromancer DLC, Blizzard keeps showing off new features coming to Diablo to keep us longing for more… Check out the latest update showcasing Challenger Rifts!
From the day of LAN Parties, or playing FPS’s in your buddies basement, people have always enjoyed the ability to play two players or more at the same time on the same screen. Overwatch console players have been asking for this feature to be added to the game, but sadly this past week they got their answer that it is not currently in the works, and may never come to consoles. We can empathize with those parents wanting to play Overwatch with their kids, or the families that only have one console or TV, but split screen of a lot of newer FPS games just isn’t possible anymore with online play and high definition graphics. You can read more about Blizzards response here.
After Jeff Kaplan dropped some snark on a forum user this past week, the community has been demanding that Jeff shows off his Overwatch skills to the community truly showing that he plays the game as much and as well as he claims. Though we have seen him play in the past, it doesn’t mean we will see it again in the future. But we personally think it would be awesome to see Jeff go head to head in a Brawl with the Blues, or some type of casted Overwatch esports! Hey! Nerdz can dream right?!
This past week it was announced that there will be an Overwatch Open for Amateurs! But with anything nice for the community, there is always going to be people who have issues with it. And with this event, players are having a problem that it requires at least reaching master rank once in order to enter the tournament! But with 30 million players, can you really say that everyone is allowed to play in the Open Division of the Overwatch League? Well, the Nerdz discuss just that on this week’s show, from Epic’s Bronze perspective to Kilroy’s Gold one! You can find out more about the Overwatch Open here.
This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:
2.) Legendary drops before upgrades are available.
Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.
Game: Cow Hunters v2.2 Type: Arena Creator: Pancakes Kilroy’s Review: “Simple and addicting best describe this game, work as a cow slaughtering mercenary and surpass your opponents by gathering resources from dead cows and your opponents, last man standing is the winner. Right off the bat this is a truly fun game that requires strategy and patience to really succeed against your opponents. Over all the Nerdz are very satisfied with this game and it’s simple and almost roach snake qualities, all it needs now is a killer soundtrack and maybe some AI so you can train to pwn human opponents.”
