1.) *You’ll have to listen to Episode 130 to hear #1*
This past week Blizzard Entertainment announced a few upcoming things that we have all been waiting to hear about BlizzCon 2016! Not only did we get the band announcement, we got the host announcement and another performer added to the Friday Night Diablo Celebration outside on the path between the hotels. First up, Weird Al will be the closing act for BlizzCon 2016. The community was straight up in arms about this announcement, but like always there are plenty of other things going on at the same time if you are looking for something else to entertain you! But these two Nerdz are excited for a nerd to grace the stage at BlizzCon! Weird Al himself said, “I’m very excited to be playing at BlizzCon because it’ll be one of the few times in my life where a significant percentage of the audience is even nerdier than I am!”
The Friday Night contests will be hosted by Thomas Middleditch, who’s known for his comedy part in Silicon Valley, and movies like Finals Girls and Fun Size, will be showing off his game knowledge as well as his ability to be a nerd. It’s awesome to see a change in hosts again this year, but Thomas has some big shoes to fill after Wil Wheaton hosted BlizzCon 2015.
But this past week wasn’t just all announcements, it was also jammed packed with Blizzard esports from all over the world from the Overwatch World Cup to the WOW esports finals and beyond. The finals will be held at BlizzCon 2016, and you can watch all the action live at home for free. So check it all out here!
Previously on the show we discussed some changes coming to Heroes of the Storm esports, and we discussed that Blizzard was going to be offering up a salary for players who played for the whole year. This past week it was announced that going forward Heroes Teams will receive $100,000 for playing in Tournaments from January to November. This is DOUBLE what RIOT is currently offering for its League of Legends players. Could this be the start of something magical, or completely messy? Hopefully we hear more about this at BlizzCon 2016 this week!
Before BlizzCon all the Blizzard titles are starting to tease us all with what could be coming next. This week with Hearthstone was no different. It has been teased that there will be a new upcoming expansion that involved Gadgetzan! But is this too soon, or just right? We discuss our feelings towards these teases and more on this weeks show!
This will hopefully we the last time we have to talk about it, but it seems that the Sombra ARG is coming to an end… soon ™! You can find out more about it here! (That’s all we are going to say! :P).
This week’s World of Warcraft discussion topics:
1.) Cow Level coming to Azeroth?! Details.
2.) We discuss the Return of Kara, and more!
Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.
Game: Maniac with a Saw v1.13 Type: Survival Creator: DeathBringer Details: This game is the perfect Starcade Halloween game! When you first set up this game it’s important to know there is no AI option but don’t let that stop you because this game is worth the lobby wait. Also the more players involved in the game the more interesting an experience it will be. Here is the breakdown, you have a team of people you queue into this game with and work together with them as a team to collect materials and keys and survive. 1 person from your team will be selected to be the maniac with the saw who has 1 purpose to hunt the others down through using their chat and beacons they lay. It is very important for the survivors to try and communicate as little as possible while still being able to accomplish the job of gathering 8 keys and escaping by the boat. Thrills a minute and a total rush survive the maniac and work together and you may walk away from this game with your life, and some hilarious memories of a good time.
