This past week, the Blizzards eSports team decided to turn it up to eleven and introduced some of the changes coming to Heroes of the Storm in 2017. Currently, teams are owned by different organizations, which causes some players to get paid well enough to be able to focus 100% on playing Heroes as their job, while other teams don’t make enough and players are forced to seek other ways in order to have food on the table and pay their rent. Some of the changes coming to the Nexus in 2017 is that players will be basically receiving a salary for showing up and participating in different Blizzard sponsored eSports events. And then they would receive even more money based on their performance. The Heroes of the Storm eSports scene has a lot of drama around players not getting paid by their organizations and beyond, but this would bring some control to those types of situations with having contracted players on contracted teams. To find out more about this, you can check out this article here, or watch Behind the Nexus’ latest episode here!
The Blizzard Community is known for their creative ways to make game play better for its players and pros. And the Hearthstone Community is no different. It started with NetDeck and other tracking tools to make it easier for players to know what cards they have left in their decks, to now moving onto a replay system that allows players to review their previous games. This makes it so players don’t have to rely on Twitch VODs, or FRAPS their actual game sessions for further review. But how long before Blizzard adds something like this to the Standard PC version of the game? Probably Soon(TM). But you can find out more about this new tool here!
From the Overwatch Open in Atlanta, GA. this past weekend (and week), to the BlizzCon show floor, the Overwatch Team is taking the world by storm with their Overwatch World Cup. The teams have been assembled of the best of the best from around the globe, and they will be traveling to sunny Southern California here shortly to play the games of their lives. The first ever Overwatch World Cup will be part of the BlizzCon Week leading up to the finals actually taking place at BlizzCon itself. You can check out the list of players and countries playing in the World Cup here!
This week’s World of Warcraft discussion topics:
1.) Upcoming class balance and hotfixes! Check out the list here. 2.) Profession gating, Mythic+, the Emerald Nightmare, and beyond!
Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.
Game: Run Harambe! Ruuunnn!! v1.9 Type: Survival Creator: InsaneJoker Details: This is a game where you navigate a maze while avoiding players on the other team who are trying to kill you, to assist in taking less damage you collect other animals from the “Zoo” to help you. The concept is great, however the game creator admits in the loading screen that the game was created in 1 hour and because of the limited development time there is clearly no Active AI. So if you still want to play by yourself you will be stuck waiting for 10 min for the Vegans to arrive to save Harambe so queue in go grab yourself some lunch and call it a win. Overall the game lacks on some fundamentals that would make it stellar but definitely playable. Not overall our most top recommended game but don’t take our word for it, give it a try.
