Unholy in Patch 6.0

Stats changes:

  • Hit/Expertise is removed.
  • Str > Mastery ~= Haste > Crit
  • best stat: Mastery for SoO, followed by crit. When you reach level 100 this will change to include more multistrike.

Rotation changes

  • Unholy frenzy has been removed.
  • Pestilence has been removed and its effect has been rolled into Blood Boil
  • Diseases no longer modify your ability damage (Scourge Strike)
  • Diseases no longer snapshot and ar dynamic like other dots.

Rotation:

  1. Keep your diseases ( Frost Fever and Blood Plague) up at all times (apply with Outbreak and extend their duration through Festering Strike).
  2. Cast Death Coil if
    • You are at or about to be at maximum runic power (90 or more) OR
    • You have a Sudden Doom proc.
  3. Cast Dark Transformation.
  4. Cast Scourge Strike. if you have less than 90 runic power.
  5. Cast Festering Strike if you have less than 90 runic power.
  6. Cast Soul Reaper
    • Only when the target is below 35% health.

Things to Remember:

  • Unholy Pres now gives 20% haste instead of 10%.
  • Unholy Might now increases Strength by 10% (down from 35%)
  • Plaguebearer is a new talent to replace Roiling Blood because of the pestilence change. This talent now increase the duration of your diseases on your target when you use Death Coil.
  • AMS now gives 90%~ less runic power from damage sources.
  • Army of the Dead is now Instant
  • Death Pact now heals you for 50% but absorbs 25% of max heath from incoming healing for 15s.

  • Death coil is now 30 RP instead of 32
  • Necrosis is a new passive ability for Unholy Death Knights. Necrosis causes Multistrikes from Festering Strike, Pestilence, Plague Strike, Scourge Strike, and Soul Reaper to also deal a burst of Shadow damage. The amount of burst damage is based on Attack Power, not the damage from the triggering Multistrike.

Two Handed Frost in Patch 6.0

Stats changes

  • Str > Haste > Crit ~= Mastery
  • Hit/Expertise is removed.
  • Not too many huge differences. Lower haste because of the stat squish. So your rotation may feel strange.

  2. Cast Howling Blast when you have a Rime proc.
  3. Cast Obliterate if
    • Doing so will not cap your runic power OR
    • You have a Killing Machine proc.

1 Hand Frost in Patch 6.0

  • Hit/Expertise is removed.

Rotation:

  1. Keep your diseases ( Frost Fever and Blood Plague) up at all times.
    • Apply Frost Fever with Howling Blast, and apply Blood Plague with Plague Strike. In the case of Plague Strike, make sure that you use an Unholy rune for it, and not a Death rune (if need be, wait slightly for an Unholy rune to become available). Re-apply with 6 secs left.
  1. Cast Obliterate
  1. Cast Frost Strike at 40+ runic power, at maximum runic power (89+) or a Killing Machine proc.

  • Obliterate‘s damage has been increased by 30%.

Blood Changes in Patch 6.0

There are a lot of massive changes to Blood DK’s “feel” of the class, how we’re gearing, and how we scale for certain fights/situations.

Self healing becomes self shielding.

Stats changes

  • Mastery > Crit > Haste
  • Hit/Expertise is removed.
  • Strength = More attack power = larger death strike base heals
  • Mastery = larger death strike shields
  • Crit = Parry
  • Versatility and Armor = % damage reduction
  • Multistrike: blood gets a 5% bonus to multistrike, but you won’t find much of it right now.
  • Death strike now scales with Attack power.

Rotation changes

  • Avoidance removed completely. 1% Critical Strike = 1% Parry.
  • Rune strike is gone replaced with Death Coil.
  • Heart Strike is gone replaced with blood boil.
  • Only spells that use Blood Runes now are: Soul Reaper, Rune Tap, Strangulate, Blood Boil
  • Rune Tap is now a straight defensive cooldown.  40 second cooldown that stores up to 2 charges, and reduces damage taken by 40% for 3 seconds.

Rotation:

  1. Apply and maintain your diseases on the target
    1. Initially, apply them with Outbreak.
    2. After that, always refresh them with Blood Boil (thanks to Plaguebearer).
  1. Use your Death runes on Death Strike.
  2. Use your Blood runes on Blood Boil until the target is at or below 35% health, you should use your Blood runes on Soul Reaper (the goal being to use Soul Reaper on cooldown during this period).
  3. Use your runic power on Death Coil to generate threat and dump runic power.
  4. Use your Crimson Scourge procs (free Blood Boil or Death and Decay) as follows.
    1. Use Death and Decay if available and if the target will remain in the area of Death and Decay for the whole duration.
    2. If Death and Decay is on cooldown or the target is likely to move, use Blood Boil.

Things to Remember:

  • Blood Rites now also causes auto attack Multistrikes to generate 15 Runic Power. The Death Strike damage increase it provided has been moved to Veteran of the Third War.
  • Crimson Scourge now increases the damage of Blood Boil by 50% (up from 10%) and now also increases the damage of diseases by 30%.
  • Dancing Rune Weapon‘s summoned Rune Weapon now remains fixated on the Death Knight‘s target at the time of summoning, and copies the effects of Talents that are tied to the Death Knight, such as Blood Boil, Frost Fever, or Asphyxiate. Should the original target be dead or otherwise unavailable, the Rune Weapon will switch to assist with the Death Knight‘s current target.
  • Death Strike now causes healing that scales in effectiveness with attack power, instead of based on damage taken in the last 5 seconds. This healing is affected by Resolve.
  • Heart Strike has been removed. Blood Death Knights should use Blood Boil in its place.
  • Improved Blood Presence now increases all damage dealt by 20%, instead of increasing rune regeneration rate.
  • Rune Tap has been redesigned. It now reduces all damage taken by 50% for 3 seconds. It also now has 2 charges, with a 40-second recharge time.
    • Will of the Necropolis has been redesigned. It now automatically triggers an immediate, free Rune Tap when you take damage that reduces you below 30% health. This effect cannot occur more often than once every 30 seconds.
    • Glyph of Rune Tap has been redesigned. It now reduces Rune Tap’s recharge time by 10 seconds, but reduces the damage reduction it provides by 20%.
  • Scarlet Fever has been removed. Its effects have been merged into Scent of Blood.
  • Veteran of the Third War now increases your Multistrike chance, haste, and Stamina by 10% (up from 9% to Stamina only), reduces the chance for attacks to be parried by 3%, and increases the damage of Death Strike by 100% and grants 1 Runic Power per second while in combat..
