Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 153 called “Insert Creative Title Here.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, April 16th, 2017.
On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past week in video games before we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion where we talk about David Kim leaving the StarCraft team, then we go over last week’s BlizzCon IceBox poll, the Diablo Necromancer Beta is live, the Overwatch Uprising event is upon us, then we move onto our World of Warcraft discussion. This week we talk about an unexpected Sunday game server downtime, hidden secrets and riddles discovered, and a recent Dev Interview with Gamespot.
But before we go, we have another amazing Warcraft themed Blizzard Arcade game to talk about called Caverns of Time – Savior of the Horde. And then we say our weekly goodbyes.

Last week on the StarCraft forums, it was announced that David Kim will be leaving his position as Senior Game Designer on StarCraft II to join an unannounced project at Blizzard Entertainment. Kim didn’t start out as a game designer, but started out as a StarCraft professional player who won the BlizzCon 2009 2 vs 2 exhibition match with his team. Clearing the chant here that day of “Nerf David Kim” was something that we should still be chanting. Kim has raised through the ranks of StarCraft and has even helped work on a few of the Heroes of the Storm maps. So whatever unannounced project that David Kim will be working on, it is in good hands. We wish him the best, and we hope to hear more about this project in the coming months! If you are interested in reading his goodbye letter on the forums, you can check it out here.
We discovered it after the show was recorded, but it was discovered that Hearthstone will be having an “Art of Hearthstone” book released on Amazon! It doesn’t come out until October 2017, but you should get it just in time to bring it with you to BlizzCon and get all your favorite Hearthstone artists and developers to sign it! If you want to pre-order a copy today AND support the show, click on this link, or the ad here.
We talked about the announcement just last week, but already this week it has been announced that the Diablo Necromancer Beta has already started! Just recently at BlizzCon it was announced that this new DLC would be coming to Diablo, but now it’s actually playable by those who got invited to test the beta. (Sadly, we didn’t sacrifice enough gnomes to the Lord of Destruction himself to gain invites). But so far the community is already in full testing mode, and they are making quick haste of finding bugs and providing feedback! If you want to be part of the beta, make sure your Beta Preferences are set up to have Diablo checked. To find out more about the Necromancer DLC, check out everything here!
In typical Blizzard fashion, they waited until we had recorded, edited and published our last episode and then they announced the latest Overwatch event! The Uprising event brings over 100 new items to the game, with some awesome throwback to the beginning of Overwatch skins for a few heroes like Mercy, Reinhardt, Tracer, and more. This new event offers more than just more loot, it also offers another awesome PVE experience in a modified version of King’s Row. In this game mode, you are working together as a team of four attempting to advance until the end of the map completing objectives along the way. It has several different difficulties, but is a blast to play overall. You have until May 1st to check it out, so don’t hesitate and miss this awesome event! You can find out more about this event here!
This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:
1.) Strange Sunday game server outage. Cause: Unknown.
2.) Riddle me this, Riddle me that…. Warcraft players solve a hidden riddle!
3.) Dev Interview with Gamespot.
Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.
Game: Caverns of Time – Savior of the Horde v1.2
Our Review: Wow, this is really polished it was unbelievably fun in ways we didn’t think possible in the arcade. You start the game with thrall and 3 defenders and relive the downfall of Mannoroth and the freeing of the orcs from the felblood. Work your way through the dungeon to assist Chromie in resetting the timeline and reap the rewards. The game wasn’t extremely difficult but it had some great programming elements and the story was fun and engaging to follow through with actual cut scenes occurring through the dungeon. This game was fast paced and shows off just how amazing the arcade can be.
