Since we are in the age of competitive esports talking on a more mainstream appearance and audience, two Blizzard games are going to be represented in the upcoming Asian Games taking place in Indonesia later this summer. Both StarCraft II and Hearthstone will be represented on the main stage along with other athletes competing in areas like track & field, swimming and more. It’s definitely awesome to see these two games taking the main stage, but we discuss our thoughts on esports being at an Olympic level.

With the Hearthstone community just waiting for the day we get an announcement about the first Hearthstone expansion to drop since the departure of Ben Brodes from Blizzard, the littlest thing gives the community hope. This past week the Hearthstone team teased an upcoming social gathering taking place in Brazil, but the community got a little too excited we were going to get an announcement. But Blizzard quickly stepped in to debunk those rumors. What when will we get a Hearthstone expansion announcement you ask? On typical Blizzard fashion… soon™️.

The Heroes of the Storm is becoming known for just pumping out awesome new and exciting content on a regular basis. They are quickly taken over StarCraft’s reign as best community communicating team at Blizzard. This past week they announced not one, but three upcoming Reddit AMAs dates. They will be answering questions about art and animation, matchmaking, and design over the next few months. So get your questions ready, we have ours ready to go!

Recently Blizzard rolled out a new feature in Overwatch that gives players the option to make custom groups using their Group Finder. What could possibly go wrong with this type of feature? The Overwatch community accepted the challenge and immediately started making groups to Throw matches, derank and just straight up troll their opponents. Normally we say to each their own, but this week, our conversation spills over from our main show and into the Frozen Nerdz After Dark discussion.

If you are new to World of Warcraft, or just want to a history lesson, now is your chance to get just that. A group of Developers, Designers and more sat down with the Wire to cover the History of World of Warcraft from an insider perspective. If you have 50 mins to spare, we definitely recommend checking it out!

We’ve talked about people selling in-game services like raid carries, boosts, arena wins, etc for real life money and the steps Blizzard took against those types of services. Well, as of late Blizzard has taken it a step further where they are no longer allowing in-game gold services to be listed in the in-game Group Finder. This comes from people selling their services cross servers which is requiring buyers to transfer gold, or it leads to real life money exchanges which are against the terms of service. This doesn’t mean you can’t sell them in trade or other looking for group chat channels. This is a step in the right direction, but how do you feel about this type of change?

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past weeks in video games before we move onto talking about our Blizzard Entertainment discussion. This week we start off talking about the potential changes that could help the HGC, Overwatch League coming home, more new Diablo jobs posted, stealth Hearthstone nerfs, new heroes and maps in Heroes of the Storm, changes coming to Symmetra, and then we move onto talking about World of Warcraft. This week we talk about Storytelling at E3, Epic Battlegrounds coming, and then we wrap up with a discussion on the Battle for Azeroth Global launch!

And then before you know it, it’s time for us to say our weekly goodbyes.

And then for our Patrons on Frozen Nerdz After Dark, we talk about BlizzCon closing acts, lack of communication on changes, and rehashed content.

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Hearthstone universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to recent stealth changes made to Hearthstone cards!

Top 5 Saltiest Hearthstone Players

5.) Can you please say something to justify making an arguably bad card worse (Tess) while not offering a refund?
4.) I don’t mean to be an !@#, but, didnt we get a dust refund when yogg got this exact same nerf? what changed?
3.) Just your daily reminder, that blizzard lied to us, and they need to publicly admit that fact, and apologize.
2.) They’re hoping people only focus on Tess and don’t notice the other stealth nerfs they made.
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

With the overwhelming success and structure of the Overwatch League, it brings into question what other Blizzard esports can do in order to keep the focus on them instead of other games within the genre. And it brings up the question on what the Heroes esports team can do in order to make HoTS thriving again. On this show we talk about what another esports organization did in order to bring their game back to the top. Would something like that work for Heroes and the HGC?

With recent talks about the Overwatch League adding more international teams, we start to wonder when will we see teams playing at other stadiums instead of just the Blizzard Arena in Burbank, CA. Well, recently Commissioner Nate sat down with ESPN to talk about having teams playing “home” games by 2020. This is a major step in the right direction, but how would that all work out? Find out more about this topic here!

We’ve been talking about it for months, but now it seems that the “unannounced Diablo” project is hiring specifically for it instead of it just being suggested and rumored. This is a step in the right direction, but don’t you find it funny that on Episode 209 we talked about how Diablo is working on something they just can’t say what? 😛

Hearthstone was in a little bit of hot water this past week when they announced that changes to cards were going live today. Normally Hearthstone is very open and forward about card changes, but this time around they didn’t say anything about it and just made changes. And that made the community a little bit… salty.

This past week the Heroes of the Storm team announced that the next hero headed to the Nexus will be Yrel! But that wasn’t the only thing that they announced, they also told us that they will be releasing a new Warcraft themed map called Alterac Pass! And with that, they were will be a new event coming called Echoes of Alterac! It’s a good time to be a fan of Warcraft and a player of Heroes of the Storm!

Overwatch still remains supreme when it comes to communication about what’s going on within the game. Besides just changes coming to Symmetra, we have a lot of new features that have been hinted about from Papa Jeff on his latest developer update. And one of those features is going to be the group finding feature that will allow players to make their own groups. But will that be good, or bad for the game? Find out more here!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) E3 will Host Blizzard storytelling in the Coliseum on June 13th
2.) Epic Battle grounds may reintroduce sites like Tol Barad and Wintergrasp
3.) Battle for Azeroth releasing Globally!

Episode 209 – “‘Cause This is Thriller”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 209 called “‘Cause This is Thriller.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, June 3rd, 2018.

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past weeks in video games before we move onto talking about the Blizzard Arcade and DitchCon 2018 before moving onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion. This week we start off talking about the Overwatch League finals, tournament sites, the zerg rush at Dreamhack Austin, the Diablo team speaks out, Hearthstone’s latest card back, suspensions in the HGC, Overwatch celebrates Pride Month, and then we move onto talking about World of Warcraft. This week we talk about the upcoming World of Warcraft Global MDI, and changes coming to the guild UI in Battle for Azeroth.

And then before you know it, it’s time for us to say our weekly goodbyes.

And then for our Patrons on Frozen Nerdz After Dark, we talk about the gambling in esports, communication from Blizzard, and much much more.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns for the show, feel free to contact us via email at IceBox@FrozeNerdz.com. But without further ado, sit back relax and enjoy Episode 209 of the Frozen Nerdz Podcast!

Help make DitchCon 2018 possible! If you aren’t familar with it, DitchCon is the one true PARTY before BlizzCon, we are talking DJ playing the best music, bartenders serving the best drinks, and nerds as far as the eye can see! We talked about it on the show, but we want to make sure you have all the official information and the links needed to make it happen!

For more information about DitchCon 2018, check out their website.
To help support the event, check out their Kickstarter!

With Overwatch League being the hottest thing since sliced bread when it comes to esports, it doesn’t come as any surprise when the finals sold out after just a short time! The Inaugural Season of Overwatch League finals will be taking place at the Barclays Center in New York City where 20,000 fans will fill the stadium to cheer on the best in the Overwatch League. It’s definitely an exciting time for Blizzard esports and Overwatch as a whole. So make sure you tune in on July 27–28 for the finals! For more information about the finals, check out the press release.

Amateur players are always looking for a chance to break onto the competitive scene and make a name for themselves. And most of them will take any chance they can to make a little money along the way. And recently, one of the tournament websites that gave players a chance at paid competition decided to close it’s doors. But it did so without paying out the money it owed players. Should sites this be allowed to function and should Blizzard implement something like this for themselves that gives players a chance to fund they journey to the top? Find out more about our thoughts on this topic on the show!

Finally a WCS tournament has come back to the States! And this time in typical StarCraft fashion Dreamhack Austin was swarmed with Zerg players trying to take home the championship, and the ever elusive WCS points. But, the community had some questions about WHY there were so many Zerg players (almost double) than Protoss or Terran? Does that mean Zerg needs to be balanced better to prevent this from happening again, or is this just time for the Zerg to shine?! Find out our feelings on the topic on this week’s show!

It’s happened! The Diablo team has spoken up about something being worked on in the background. Maybe they decided to say something since the players of Sanctuary were starting to get as restless as the demons. But communication is good and we appreciate it. But what will be next for Diablo?

The latest card back has been revealed for the month of June and it seems to be beaming with arcane energy. But what does that mean!? It means we are getting an awesome Blue Dragonflight inspired card back and maybe a tease at whats to come in the Year of the Raven! We’ve talked about it before, but this points at towards a new Hearthstone expansion possibly being on the horizon here shortly. So make sure you put on your tinfoil hats before listening to this episode!

It’s happened before, but now the Heroes of the Storm esports team and Blizzard are taking a stand against it. And this time Relic from the Korean Team GLuck has been suspended for trying to poach players from other teams! Relic will be suspended from the Heroes Global Championship (HGC) for one year, fined USD $1,500, and must give up his ownership of the team. Is this a step in the right direction for Heroes esports? Find out our thoughts on the topic on this week’s show.

With June being Pride Month, it comes at no surprise that Blizzard and Overwatch would be participating in the celebration of diversity! And this year, they will be hosting Pride Day at the Blizzard Arena in Burbank, CA on Saturday, June 9th! And want some better news? They are also going to be hosting Pride Day celebration parties around the world in places like Houston, TX, New York City, NY, Seattle, WA, and London, England! To find out more about the celebration, check out the press release!

Have you ever wanted to see MORE of the maps you can play in Overwatch? Nows your chance! One user recorded a video showing off the range of the maps and how detailed Blizzard went when creating this maps within the Overwatch Universe. Check it out here!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The MDI Global Finals begin June 22nd
2.) Changes coming to the Guild UI in Battle for Azeroth

Episode 206 – “People Be Trippin'”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 206 called “People Be Trippin’.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, May 13th, 2018.

On this week’s show, we go over our past week in video games before we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion. This week we start off talking about BlizzCon ticket sales, the cost of more teams coming to Overwatch League, the history of StarCraft, balancing in Hearthstone, changes coming to heroes in Heroes of the Storm, and then we talk about the Pink Mercy charity skin and the controversy behind it. Then we move onto talking about World of Warcraft. This week we talk about the real life cost of WoW gold, changes coming to the PVP system, and another cheater going to jail.

But no episode would be complete without us talking about a Blizzard Arcade game and this week we are talking about one called Beast of the Hill! And then before you know it, it’s time for us to say our weekly goodbyes.

We also talk about our BlizzCon ticket experiences from this year, and our response to the Pink Mercy Skin in Overwatch.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns for the show, feel free to contact us via email at IceBox@FrozeNerdz.com. But without further ado, sit back relax and enjoy Episode 206 of the Frozen Nerdz Podcast!

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Overwatch universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to the Pink Mercy Charity Skin.

Top 5 Saltiest Charity Haters

5.) But locking this great and new skin behind a paywall is more than disgusting!
4.) That’s the first time I’ve seen a game ask for a minimum of a 15$ for a charity. Seems Blizz truely lives in a bubble.
3.) Too much money for Mercy; would have paid 15 for pink granny.
2.) whatever it’s for a good cause and all, but I don’t have $20 to drop on a card for Blizzard
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

The first two rounds of BlizzCon tickets went on sale, and within a total of 19 mins, all general admission tickets have been sold. But if you missed out on your shot to get tickets, there is still a chance to get the Benefit Dinner ticket when they go on sale Wednesday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. PDT through Universe. These tickets do cost $750 per ticket, which includes a BlizzCon ticket, but all the proceeds raised will be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. If you are interested in the Benefit tickets, head here. If you want to see if there are any tickets available for purchase, keep checking out the LFBlizzCon.com page.

We’ve talked about the upcoming expansion of the Overwatch League, and now the math and the cost behind the scenes has come out. It appears that the first 12 teams that join the Overwatch League each paid in a total of $20 million USD to join. And future teams will be looking at the cost of $30-60 million USD to join the league. The price change comes as the interest in the league increases. The teams within the Overwatch League are valued at $120-160 million USD right now. So the chance for growth is there, but who is going to be shelling out the $30-60 million to join in the next season of the Overwatch League? Only time will tell. On this episode, we talk about a few different teams we wouldn’t mind seeing, and discuss the overall topic a lot more.

It’s not really StarCraft news per say, but it’s defiantly a good StarCraft related read. So if you want to learn more about the history of how the game became a game, check out this PC Gamer article today! It’s a solid read!

Currently in Hearthstone there are a lot of cards and decks that just seem to have a higher win rate than others, and because of that the community has been demanding more balance come to Hearthstone. But the Hearthstone team weighs in on this topic saying its a mix between feelings and metrics. Meaning that they only make adjustments if it feels right to the play style of the game, and it has to be supported by metrics to back the reasoning behind it. The example they say is that if a deck wins 65% of the time, it feels good for the person playing it, but not so much for the person playing against it. But instead of nerfing the winning deck, what about increasing the win rate of the losing deck. Because if people are always losing, they won’t keep playing. Who needs facts when you can just act on your feelings?!

This past week, we got two major announcements from the Heroes of the Storm team! And that means, some major reworks coming to both Diablo and Lunara. And some new skins of the two fo them. These reworks are going to be a more frequent thing coming out of the Heroes of the Storm team in order to balance the heroes in the game instead of always funneling new ones into the roster. And that’s definitely important. And it’s good to see that the Lord of Destruction was one of the first ones on their lists to get done.

And it has come and gone, and most of you didn’t even know it was happening this year. But the Heroes of the Dorm competition has crowded a new champion this past week in the Blizzard Arena. And this time around it wasn’t an American team that won the whole thing, but the Canadian University Laval that took home the scholarship money! To read more all about it, check out this article for recaps of that matches.

If you like new Mercy skins, and supporting a good cause, the Overwatch team has a deal for you! You can get the new Pink Mercy skin today for just $14.99 USD and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). You can also pick up the $30 limited edition Pink Mercy shirt on the Blizzard Gear store. And by watching up to 6 hours of select Overwatch streams on Twitch, you can also get some exclusive BCRF sprays for use inside the game.

But with a good thing, there is always going to be salt and controversy. And it appears that Sony is at the front of the lines this time because on their PlayStation store is shows that only a portion of the proceeds will be going to the BCRF/Blizzard.

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) WoW Gold worth more than the national currency of Venezuela
2.) Changes coming to WoW PVP ranks/rewards
3.) Arrested and receiving Jail Time for DDOSing WoW Servers.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Beast of the Hill v1.0
Type: King of the Hill
Creator: Pinny
Details: “Beast of the hill is a free for all mod where you have to stand on the red dot at the center of the map to score points!  Be the last man standing or collect enough points to win!”
Kilroy’s Review: “Fun concept simple RTS style with a center king of the hill theme.  Overall a solid built map, it doesn’t take away too much from the original SC2 game but a good mod nonetheless.  The AI doesn’t attempt to sit in the dot but it does like to attack your base relentlessly which is basically the other win condition so I guess there is AI even if it isn’t created by the developer.”

Final Rating (1-5): 3.125

Stupid funability (1-5):

Epic – 2
Kilroy – 3

Ease of Play (1-5):

Epic – 5
Kilroy – 5

AI incorporated(1-5):

Epic – 3
Kilroy – 3

Replayability (1-5):

Epic – 1
Kilroy – 3

We’ve talked about it before wondering when we’d start seeing teams get sponsored by larger organizations and the time is now! This past week it was announced that the best team in the Overwatch League, the Houston Outlaws,  will be taking on the first major sponsor as they are now signed with T-Mobile. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise since T-Mobile is a major sponsor of all Blizzard events, including the Overwatch League. But this is a big step for our favorite team, and a great direction for the Overwatch League and esports everywhere.

Also in Overwatch League news, this past weekend we had the Stage 3 playoffs and finals.n The four teams that advanced were the LA Valiant, LA Gladiators, Boston Uprising, and the New York Excel. After some major competition, the final two teams that were left standing was the undefeated Boston Uprising, and the New York Excel. But only one team could take home the $100,000 cash prize, and once again the New York Excel prove that they are still the number one team in the Overwatch League.

With Season 2 of 2018 upon us in StarCraft II, we have new exciting maps upon us! You will definitely want to check them out for yourself. Words can not describe the awesomeness of Dreamcatcher! Here’s a gallery of them all!

If you are like us and just clinging to the change to hear ANYTHING from the Diablo team, now is your chance to be excited and disappointed all at the same time! This past week it was announced that Diablo III for console (PS4/XboxOne/etc), are now up to date with the PC version of the game! This is great for console players, but saddening for Diablo fans everywhere wondering if this marks the end of the game as a whole, or are we just in a holding pattern until the next big thing happens?!

Just when you finally finished off your Easter candy, Hearthstone decides to bring back memories of regret and disappointment! It’s a Witchwood Curse we swear!!! But on May 9th to the 13th, we will be getting the Noble Garden Tavern Brawl which will give away TWO GOLDEN CARDS!!! Even if you don’t care about this cards, they quickly become dust and turned into new cards of your liking! So if you want to collect eggs and paint them, check out the Noblegarden event!

Epic talked about it on the Frozen Nerd Report, but we wanted to make sure everyone knew about the latest in the Nexus. This past week we got the Ravenlord Comic, the Dark Nexus event preview, and then a 7 minute developer insight into the Lore of the Nexus. Besides just getting Deckard Cain, it’s a good time to be in the Nexus collecting loot, destroying towers and enjoying the story!

It’s been a few weeks (Maybe even months!) since the last time we talked about Hackers and cheaters in Overwatch. But now we are finally getting some justice because the South Korean government is punishing 13 people in connection to hacking in Overwatch. One receiving jail time and being fined up to $10,000 USD for violating the user agreement from Blizzard. This is major steps in the right direction to cut down on the illegal activity, but when will we see something like this happen in the United States? Listen to the Nerdz discussion about just that and more on this week’s episode!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) Live Action Horde versus Alliance in Czech forest.
2.) Developer interview with John Hight, World of Warcraft Production Director, about Battle for Azeroth.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Heaven Besieged Infinite
Type: Strategy
Creator: keenan
Details: “Heaven must hold out with limited units until God arrives to help.  Hell must destroy the throne of heaven without losing their prime evils.”

Kilroy’s Review: “A cool concept if you play with a full group of humans,  there is no prebuilt AI to take control of the different portions of the game and so it is only you charging in to assault the enemies bases.  Which ultimately makes this game play like a simulation where how long can you throw X at Y before you win. Seems like a cool concept and probably a very solid strategy game.”

On this week’s show, we go over our past week in video games before we move onto talking about recent changes to our Patreon and the introduction of the Frozen Nerdz After Dark podcast. Then we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion starting the week off talking about Dive Comp in Overwatch League before we move onto talking about StarCraft Arcade Premium content, Monster Hunts added to the Witchwood, and changes coming to Symmetra. Then we move onto talking about World of Warcraft. This week we talk about Battle for Azeroth becoming a full beta, and then we recap the latest Developer Q&A.

But no episode would be complete without us talking about a Blizzard Arcade game and this week we are talking about one called Woof! And then before you know it, it’s time for us to say our weekly goodbyes.

We talk about it within the show, but make sure you listen to the very end of the podcast to listen to the edited version of the first episode of the Frozen Nerdz After Dark podcast that will be available for everyone to listen to this week, but will be available on Patreon only going forward.

With Overwatch League in full swing, viewers have started to notice a trend in the matches that has been taking place so far. It’s the same heroes on each team, and each team is running their own version of “Dive Comp.” Dive Comp is a super aggressive team make up that takes all of your fast moving heroes and throws them quickly at the first point on a map. And usually consists of the same heroes like, Genji, Tracer, Zenyatta, Mercy, Lucio, Dva, Winston, etc. And because of this, a lot of people have started to stop watching the Overwatch League due to the repetitiveness. On this weeks show, we discuss changes that can be made, or heroes that could be added to help prevent this same compensation of heroes.

Back at BlizzCon 2014, we sat down and talked with the Blizzard Arcade team and they discussed the possibility of premium content coming to the Arcade to benefit creators. And with the arrival of the StarCraft II Patch 4.3.0 notes, it appears that we already have two premium Blizzard Arcade games available for purchase for $4.99. And in a recent interview about the topic, it was stressed that the major of the money made will be going to creators. With it only being two games, it’s definitely a system that is being tested, and we hope of the sake of content creators within the Blizzard Arcade,  it’s here to stay. To check out the maps available for purchase, or to learn more about the new premium content, check out the official press release.

With the release of The Witchwood within Hearthstone, we didn’t expect to get anything more than a new expansion, but boy were we wrong! This past week, the Monster Hunts was released as a new set of dungeon crawlers within the game. Similar to those that came with Kobolds and Catacombs, you play a set boss, or in this case Monster, and play as one of four Monster Hunters. It’s a great way to test your Hearthstone skills, and to level up heroes you may not play very often. But don’t take our word for it, check it out for yourself today!

We have complained about her before, and we may be complaining about her more in the future. But thankfully Blizzard is taking a look at another major Symmetra rework coming. This time focusing on her lock on beam, her turrets, her ultimates, her teleporter, and her alternate fire. So basically everything! This comes as a great relief since she has become a problem for most in comp and quick play. But will her changes make her more violable or less? The only way to find out is to check her out for yourself when the changes go live on the PTR. Find out how the Nerdz felt by listening to this weeks episode!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The Battle For Azeroth Beta is now live! Make sure you are opt-ed in today so you can join us within the beta!
2.) The Latest Battle for Azeroth Developer Q&A Recap.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Woof 1.7
Type: Hide and Seek
Creator: Samo
Kilroy’s Description: “Yikes, tried to queue alone, just a black map! I mean I want to play this game I want to love this game but I’m not sure how! I know the game is still in development so it has a chance to become a great game, as far as it stands you are either a dog or a zealot and the dogs have to hide from the zealots.”

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the World of Warcraft universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to the most recent Battle for Azeroth Q&A.

Top 5 BFA Q&A Salt

5.)”Alt friendly-ness will be the same as legion” PICK A MAIN BOIS, ALTS ARE DEAD AGAIN.
4.) Yet another useless, unproductive and damaging Q&A.
3.) Look at me. I wear a blazer over my Warcraft shirt. I’m professional. Don’t notice that I have the most punchable face at Blizzard.Coombs
2.) Maybe if they stopped with all the class changes every expansion. They could focus on actual content like heritage armor for current races.
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

Just last week we were talking about how marketing and the usage of the MLG assets seem to be unused. But this past week, Activision Blizzard announced that they acquired three new executives on their marketing team. The new hires have an extensive background in traditional sports marketing, and when asked they expressed their excitement about working in esports. Check out this article for more information.

Shockingly enough, it’s almost the end of March and we are just now starting to hear more about Heroes of the Dorm 2018. Normally it follows suit with the NCAA Basketball tournament, but this year the top 64 teams were just revealed this past Monday. So that means… the Bracket Challenge should be short to follow. And hopefully some awesome prizes are to follow! To find out more about the Heroes of the Dorm, check out this article.

Thanks to a listener email, we discovered early on in the week that there is more scandal in the StarCraft esports world, and this time it’s match fixing in StarCraft Remastered Tournaments. But we guess it stays true to the scandal that it’s happening in the original game again! But why does this keep happening? This week on the show we talk about how the prizes pool size, and the amount of gambling on matches in Korean has effected the esports.

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

Whelp, we were wrong once again. It’s not a Diablo hero coming to the Nexus, or a Demon from World of Warcraft. This time we are getting Fenix from StarCraft! Fenix is a protoss who has been placed inside a dragoon mech, and he has some new interesting ability that could quickly make other heroes show up on the scene again. Check out his hero spotlight today!

We almost got it! Last week we were speculating on what the next expansion of Hearthstone would be and thought it would be revealed at PAX East at the start of April. But Blizzard decided that was too far away, and went ahead and announced it this past week. Hearthstone: The Witchwood will be rolling out to servers in mid-April. And with it, it will be bringing two to action cards, as well as a chance to get your hands on 70…. yes…. 70 cardpacks for the $50! To find out more about the expansion, and the pre-purchase, check out the main blog!

Overwatch News Banner

During an interview this past week, Comiss Nate said they they are looking to expand the Overwatch League to 28 teams in the upcoming future! And they stressed that more of those teams will be international teams that focus on European and Asian markets (which is needed!). To hear more of the interview, check out this article!

We talked about Brigette over the past couple weeks, but she is officially going live in-game on live servers this week! Check out all her details here.

World of Warcraft News Banner

On this week’s podcast, we talk about the latest World of Warcraft Battle for Azeroth live Q&A. And we talk about our thoughts about it as a whole, and we cover some of the important topics that will effect the community moving forward. You can check out the VOD here, and the recap here.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Solemn Quest v1.1
Type: RPG
Creator: DuckyTheDuck
Details: A Sudden eclipse has engulfed the realm in darkness, corrupting and driving it’s residents mad.  Sensing a great threat, the elders of your clan order you on a quest to find and destroy the source of the curse.

Episode 197 – “Drama Alert!”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 197 called “Drama Alert!” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, March 11th, 2018.

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past week in video games before we move onto Blizzard Entertainment discussion. This week we talk about a StarCraft II documentary, discipline action against four Overwatch League players, Epic goes on a rant about World of Warcraft esports and then we move onto our discussion about Heroes of the Storm adjusting their reporting system, Diablo could be Switching things up, Papa Jeff talks about Season 9 meta, and Overwatch drops the ban hammer on it’s moderators. Then we move onto our World of Warcraft discussion. This week we talk about World of Warcraft: Chronicles Volume 3 coming out, and our thoughts on downtime during expansions.

But no episode would be complete without us talking about a Blizzard Arcade game and this week we are talking about one called Dead Zone – Lost Hope! And then before you know it, it’s time for us to say our weekly goodbyes.

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the <Insert Game Here> universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to…: <Article/Topic Link here>

Top 5 Saltiest

1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

It’s been a busy week for Blizzard Entertainment esports! Not only did we have action from the Overwatch League and World of Warcraft esports, we also received word that the crew over at Filmrise will be making a documentary about the life two StarCraft II pro’s and their journey’s towards BlizzCon. It will be called “Gamechangers: Dreams of Blizzcon” and will be looking into the life of Mun “MMA” Song Wan  and Jang “MC” Min Chul. And they also hint that there will be the possibility of Blizzard releasing an Overwatch esports documentary in the near future.

We have talked about it way more times than anyone should have to, but the Overwatch League is back in the news this week and this time it’s not just one player who’s getting in trouble, it’s multiple. Three players, and one coach are getting hit with some disciplinary action based on things they have recent said outside of the Overwatch League on either social media, or on their personal streams. But the one that caught everyone’s eye was the suspension of xQc from the Dallas Fuel. And minutes before we sat down to record the episode, the Dallas Fuel announced the departure of xQc from their roster. We go into a lengthy discussion about everything on the show, but if you want to read the official announcements they can be found here.

And to wrap up our esports discussion, Epicinsantiy goes on a rant about the world of the World of Warcraft esports. From their lack of advertisement and promotion, to the lack of information on their website about the events. Epic asks the question, “how can we take WOW esports seriously, if Blizzard isn’t?” Find out more about the discussion by listening to this episode!

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

Heroes of the Storm has paved the report system in video games as we know it. They were first to implement the mute system for abusive chat, and helped clean up the community quiet a bit. But recently, it was made known that a popular Russian streamer was reporting his whole team after his team would lose. And Blizzard caught onto this action, and are re-writing their report system to prevent abuse from players like this. We’ve talked about similar things happening in Overwatch, but Heroes of the Storm seems to be the testing ground for new changes like this. Find out more about this issue here.

Who knew one simple Tweet could change the world as we know it… The Blizzard Entertainment Twitter account tweeted out “Good night” and played a 6 second video of Diablo III night light getting turned on and off, and the community immediately assumed that Diablo was coming to the Nintendo Switch. But wait… there’s more! The website Eurogamer claims to have proof from Blizzard saying it’s in the works, even though Blizzard themselves said no. The Community still insists its coming. Epic has a story about Diablo and switches. Check out the episode to hear about his demonic light switch experience.

Overwatch News Banner

This past week, Papa Jeff went to the forums to talk about the current Meta that players are experiencing in Season 9 of competitive play in Overwatch. He wanted to debunk the rumors that different heroes are played across the different ranks. And from the information he shared, it basically proves that ranks have very similar Top 10 heroes played. For example, Dva is the highest picked hero across all ranks followed closely by Mercy and Moria. But there are heroes like Junkrat and Reinhardt who drop off the list very quickly once they hit Platinum rank. And heroes like Zenyetta and Tracer only show up in high competitive ranks, which has something to do with the fact that they are two higher skill capped players. What do you think about this kind of data?

We would be doing the community a disservice if we didn’t address the issue going on right now with one of the previous Overwatch League Twitch chat moderators. We talk about the topic in depth on the podcast. But if you want to know exactly what is going on, check out the source article on the topic from CodeHitchHiker aka Cher Scarlett called, “Half a million people have seen me naked.” In the article, she talks about how this Overwatch mod re-posted nude images of her online without her permission. From both of us here at Frozen Nerdz, there is a special place in hell for people do this type of thing. And the male in question deserves to lose more than just his career of such actions. This type of behavior is NOT “boys will be boys,” it is 110% not acceptable. And we don’t mention his name, because he doesn’t need anymore attention on this topic. But revenge porn needs to be stopped, and Cher has a White House petition started to do just that. Check it out here.

World of Warcraft News Banner

With the Battle for Azeroth Alpha in full swing, it’s definitely another slow news week for World of Warcraft, so this week on the show we talk about the upcoming release of the World of Warcraft Chronicles Vol. 3. Interested in pre-ordered your copy that releases on March 27th, 2018, use our Amazon Affiliate link here!

So what is there to do in World of Warcraft right now? *Crickets* *Crickets* There doesn’t seem to be much to do right now, but on this week’s show, we talk about a bunch of different options that Blizzard really should consider in order to prevent content draught like this again. Warlords of Draenor was bad, but is Legion during into WOD 2.0? Find out more from our discussion!

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Dead Zone – Hope Lost v 1.4
Type: Survival
Creator: Apocrypha
Game Overview: Dead Zone – Hope Lost is described as a dense horror atmosphere unlike anything else seen in Starcraft 2 thanks to a large amount of custom assets, environmental systems and intricate sound design.”

Epic’s Review: “This game takes the cake on game design. Not only does it have voice acting, while playing the game I completely forgot I was playing StarCraft. It’s a top down horror game in an apocalyptic world where you have to savage, pick locks, do melee combat, protect your direwolf and try to survive, all whole in a dark in environment. I’m not sure that in our 4 years of playing the Blizzard Arcade we’ve ever found a game like this. Graphically, audibly, etc.”

Kilroy’s Review: “Holy crap, this game starts out with a huge cutscene sequence where it describes the story of a colony falling to a virus.  From there the game loads in and you are taught a new subset of controls and manual fighting efforts. This is an example of the Starcraft Arcade engine being pushed to its limits in modification and design.  The developer of this game put a ton of time into adjusting the lighting and weather, they have input a lock picking system that requires you to remember complex sequences to pick locks on car trunks just to get at some equipment or useful items that may help in your mission to survive.  The zombie AI is aggressive and will seek you out keeping you on your toes in this very expansive game. Great find and a totally awesome game overall.”
