Episode 154 – “WWeSports”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 154 called “WWeSports.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017.

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past week in video games before we move onto weekly Top 5 saltiest list, then we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion. This week we talk about the next Co-Op commander coming to StarCraft, get the Original StarCraft and StarCraft Brood Wars for free, Korean Presidency campaign using StarCraft to advertise, Heroes 2.0 is coming this week and it gives you free heroes, the success of the Necromancer beta, an all female Overwatch team is coming, and changes were made to Overwatch Comp mode. Then we finally move onto our World of Warcraft discussion. This week we talk about last week’s Twitter poll about mount rarity, transmog contests and more gimmicks coming to Patch 7.2.5.

But before we go, we have another amazing Rock the Cabinet 2017 Blizzard Arcade game to talk about called DNA Mad Scientist. And then we say our weekly goodbyes.

Here are a few ways you can do that!

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Heroes of the Storm universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to quick match matchmaking this week.

Top 5 Saltiest Quick Match Posts on the Heroes Forums

5.) I’m not angry because I lost, I’m frustrated because my team was simply outmatched in every way, the match may as well have been predetermined.
4.)I have no words, other than. “Goodbye forever, QM”. Goodbye and good riddance.
3.)Varian keeps breaking QM matchmaking being “Multiclass” when most people go only tank. Why do they get a bruiser and we don’t?  How is Lucio still not nerfed?
2.)Is like cruel and unusual punishment. Thanks for the 4 month silence.
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

Every week we talk about on the show how the Blizzard Arcade is 100% free. That’s thousands of games created by the StarCraft community, but now Blizzard wants their hand in on giving away free games to the world! It was announced this past week that the StarCraft Anthology (Original StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood Wars) is 100% for free for anyone who has a internet connection. Now you have NO reason to say you’ve never played StarCraft! Get out there and check them out today!

In Korea, StarCraft is like the baseball or football in the United States. It’s common, and every one knows about it. It’s so common that this years Korean Presidency race has candidates using StarCraft as a campaign tool in order to try to relate with population! How cool would it be if this happened in the United States?! Check out the whole story here!

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

This week is a busy week for Blizzard games, but Heroes of the Storm isn’t going to let StarCraft have all the fun with reveals! This week Heroes 2.0 launches on April 25th, 2017! They are having an launch event live on Twitch with everything that is going on. For more information about the launch event, check out this blog post.

There are a lot of changes coming to Heroes this week, so if you want to keep up with everything that is going on, check out this article here!

But just like StarCraft, Heroes is giving away a TON of free stuff this week. Including Mega Bundles that will be giving you up to 20 free heroes for you to enjoy. Assassin bundles, support bundles, tank bundles and more! Check out which one is best for you here today!

We’ve talked about (and cried about it for not getting invited) the Diablo 3 Necromancer beta that is going on right now. The response from the community has been very positive, and the Diablo team took the time to talk about it with IGN this past week. They discussed how the idea to bring the Necromancer to D3 came from a Game Jam session where they lock all the game developers in the basement at Blizzard and don’t allow them to come out until they have the next best idea for their game (that’s all a lie). But from this jam session, the necromancer was an idea, and immediately became a thing. And they talk about how much work has gone into the creation of the whole process. You can read more about the interview on IGN here!

Overwatch News Banner

It was announced last week that Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri will be having an Overwatch esports team. In this day and age, that’s a pretty common thing… but Stephens College is an all female university, so this is a big deal! The school announced the program, that will be supported with scholarships, will begin in the Fall of 2017. The school picked Overwatch due to it’s diverse list of heroes and strong female character roles. It’s a huge step in the right direction to bring more diversity to esports. If you want to read more about the program here.

We talked about it on Episode 149 – The Great Pie Capture, and it has Blizzard listened directly to us and what we had to say about Pie. And they implemented it! (There were also thousands of others who said the same thing on the forms, but don’t burst our bubble!). Now in comp mode, a team will win the match when they capture 33.3% of the capture pie, verses that it only required 1% more than other team like before. That means, once a team captures 1/3 more of the pie, then they will win and the match ends. It’s a great change, and you can read more about it here!

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) Last week’s IceBox Poll: Do you think certain mounts in Warcraft should be expansion locked (ie. Riddler’s Mind-Worm) for rarity sake?
2.) Replica weapons not allowed on airplanes according to the TSA Twitter feed.
3.) The Trial of Style is… coming… soon.
4.) More “things” coming in Patch 7.2.5!

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: DNA Mad Scientist v1.4 (Rock the Cabinet 2017 Submission)
Type: Co-op Commander
Creator: Nedia
Details: In this game Amon’s forces are working to convert Kaldalis into a hybrid Species, it is up to you and a partner to build up your attack and quickly take out the laboratories that Amon’s forces have set up.  Expansion in this game must be done quickly and efficiently because you have a time limit in which to take out the labs before it’s game over.  Would not recommend playing by yourself because the AI on your team does not work with you to assist in taking out your opponents and will just mine ore, and requires you set up defenses for them otherwise you will lose the game.  The pace to this Co-Op mission is very fast which means that decisions have to be made swiftly, a great trainer for when you want to learn how to develop your gameplay quickly. All in all this was a fun Co-Op mission and the creators concept was one that is easily replay-able.

Episode 153 – “Insert Creative Title Here”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 153 called “Insert Creative Title Here.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, April 16th, 2017.

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past week in video games before we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion where we talk about David Kim leaving the StarCraft team, then we go over last week’s BlizzCon IceBox poll, the Diablo Necromancer Beta is live, the Overwatch Uprising event is upon us, then we move onto our World of Warcraft discussion. This week we talk about an unexpected Sunday game server downtime, hidden secrets and riddles discovered, and a recent Dev Interview with Gamespot.

But before we go, we have another amazing Warcraft themed Blizzard Arcade game to talk about called Caverns of Time – Savior of the Horde. And then we say our weekly goodbyes.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns for the show, feel free to contact us via email at IceBox@FrozeNerdz.com. But without further ado, sit back relax and enjoy Episode 153 of the Frozen Nerdz Podcast!

Here are a few ways you can do that!

Last week on the StarCraft forums, it was announced that David Kim will be leaving his position as Senior Game Designer on StarCraft II to join an unannounced project at Blizzard Entertainment. Kim didn’t start out as a game designer, but started out as a StarCraft professional player who won the BlizzCon 2009 2 vs 2 exhibition match with his team. Clearing the chant here that day of “Nerf David Kim” was something that we should still be chanting. Kim has raised through the ranks of StarCraft and has even helped work on a few of the Heroes of the Storm maps. So whatever unannounced project that David Kim will be working on, it is in good hands. We wish him the best, and we hope to hear more about this project in the coming months! If you are interested in reading his goodbye letter on the forums, you can check it out here.

We discovered it after the show was recorded, but it was discovered that Hearthstone will be having an “Art of Hearthstone” book released on Amazon! It doesn’t come out until October 2017, but you should get it just in time to bring it with you to BlizzCon and get all your favorite Hearthstone artists and developers to sign it! If you want to pre-order a copy today AND support the show, click on this link, or the ad here.

We talked about the announcement just last week, but already this week it has been announced that the Diablo Necromancer Beta has already started! Just recently at BlizzCon it was announced that this new DLC would be coming to Diablo, but now it’s actually playable by those who got invited to test the beta. (Sadly, we didn’t sacrifice enough gnomes to the Lord of Destruction himself to gain invites). But so far the community is already in full testing mode, and they are making quick haste of finding bugs and providing feedback! If you want to be part of the beta, make sure your Beta Preferences are set up to have Diablo checked. To find out more about the Necromancer DLC, check out everything here!

Overwatch News Banner

In typical Blizzard fashion, they waited until we had recorded, edited and published our last episode and then they announced the latest Overwatch event! The Uprising event brings over 100 new items to the game, with some awesome throwback to the beginning of Overwatch skins for a few heroes like Mercy, Reinhardt, Tracer, and more. This new event offers more than just more loot, it also offers another awesome PVE experience in a modified version of King’s Row. In this game mode, you are working together as a team of four attempting to advance until the end of the map completing objectives along the way. It has several different difficulties, but is a blast to play overall. You have until May 1st to check it out, so don’t hesitate and miss this awesome event! You can find out more about this event here!

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:
1.) Strange Sunday game server outage. Cause: Unknown.
2.) Riddle me this, Riddle me that…. Warcraft players solve a hidden riddle!
3.) Dev Interview with Gamespot.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Caverns of Time – Savior of the Horde v1.2
Type: RPG
Creator: Shakarax
Our Review: Wow, this is really polished it was unbelievably fun in ways we didn’t think possible in the arcade.  You start the game with thrall and 3 defenders and relive the downfall of Mannoroth and the freeing of the orcs from the felblood.  Work your way through the dungeon to assist Chromie in resetting the timeline and reap the rewards.  The game wasn’t extremely difficult but it had some great programming elements and the story was fun and engaging to follow through with actual cut scenes occurring through the dungeon. This game was fast paced and shows off just how amazing the arcade can be.

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the ticket purchasing site Universe.

Top 5 Saltiest Universe Users

5.)How exactly are humans supposed to be able to buy tickets for this? We can’t compete with ebay scalper bots when the very instant tickets are for sale they’re already gone.
4.)I feel like if you get into the line and are ready to put in information, YOU GET A TICKET.
3.)For all the issues Eventbrite had, at least when you got to enter in your info, you had 15 minutes to do so. If Universe had this system, it would be even better.
2.)Sold out in 6min…. and this time they took down the ability to buy a ticket from the universe app… gg. 🙁
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

All of the General admission tickets for BlizzCon 2017 have come and gone in record time. In under 10 minutes, all the tickets have been sold, but the community is not happy with the changes they have been made to the ticket process, or the ticket process in general. On this weeks show, we talk about the changes that could be made in order to actually improve the system, but first we reach out to our community to help us with this week’s IceBox Twitter poll!

If you are attending BlizzCon, LET US KNOW! We’d love to meet you, shake your hand, hug you, or dance in the pale moonlight with you.

At BlizzCon 2016, the StarCraft team announced that they would be working together with Google Deepmind in order to create a more advanced Artificial Intelligence by using information taken for playing StarCraft. This past week it was announced a team from China’s Alibaba has published a paper describing a system they have created that will increase it’s overall success with creating this awesome AI. You can find out more about their research here!

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

Thousands of college teams signed up for Heroes of the Dorm, but only one could be crowned champion. This past week in Vegas, the University of Texas – Arlington Marvicks went 29 – 0 in order to secure the championship. They locked in and received college tuition, and bragging rights across the Heroes of the Storm world! You can hear more about their story here!

Last week the new Hearthstone expansion, Journey to Un’goro, was released. And already there has been an exploit that was discovered while YouTube/Twitch streamer Disguised Toast discovered that you could skip your opponent’s turn with infinite Shadow Visions card play. Thankfully this exploit was caught by a top end streamer, so that hopefully it will be corrected soon! You can check it out here.

We have been waiting since November 2016 for the Necromancer patch to be announced, and the wait is almost over! This past week, the Diablo team came out to let us know that the Necromancer Beta is almost upon us! And since it is paid content, it will have a beta instead of a PTR test, so if you are interested in checking out the latest content, make sure you are signed up for Diablo betas! You can find more out about the Necromancer and the beta here!

Overwatch News Banner

The Overwatch world was busy this past week, not only did Lunatic-Hai win the Overwatch APEX Season 2 finals in the first ever Blizzard estadium in Taiwan. But it was announced that Overwatch shout-casters MonteCristo and DoA will be departing South Korea to cast Blizzard’s Overwatch League in the United States. This is a huge move in the direction that Overwatch esports will be taking. And its more news about the Overwatch League! Find out more on ESPN here!

This past week, Overwatch announced another digital comic called, “Uprising.” This comic is set in the time before most of the Overwatch crisis. It shows the introduction to Tracer, and more about the organization in the beginning. You can check out the comic here!

It appears that there is an upcoming announcement that will be releasing more skins related to the comic coming on April 11th, 2017. It’s been leaked on Xbox Live and Playstation already. You can see some of the teased skins here.

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) This past week the Legion Assaults started and changes were made to the Pathfinder 2.0 achievement for flying. Check it out here.

It’s that time of the year again when we hear about what’s next for the Rock the Cabinet contest. This year brings a whole new concept by it being based around Co-op missions! Like previous years, creators will have the chance to walk away with $10,000 USD, tickets to a future BlizzCon, and a chance to sit down and have a developer jam session with Blizzard themselves! If you are a Blizzard Arcade creator, take the time to read over the full details of the contest, and we will see you inside the StarCrade!

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: You Are what you Eat v0.33
Type: Co-Op Command
Creator: Gastu
Details: Abathur has created a new zerg type called the consumalisc, it is your job as the commander in this map to protect this creature as it grows in strength traveling across the map consuming amons forces to gain strength. Very challenging and sets off at a very fast pace.  You are given some building percs at the beginning like a 200 resource pool to start so you can get right into creating troops as you need.  It is important to work with your partner to keep your base and the consumalisc safe.  Overall a solid co-op game and has almost all the aspects that make the current co-op commander missions fun.  However you have to play with people because your AI team mate wont help you.

Game: Muad’dib’s Pokemon Adventure v0.3

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Overwatch universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to changes that happened to Bastion this past week in Overwatch. Check out this Reddit article for more info!

Top 5 POSITIVE Bastion Comments

5.) WHERE IS SOMBRA WHEN YOU NEED HER?!…. Here all along.
4.) As a Reinhardt, I’m still scared at the thought of seeing a bastion every game.
3.) I’m a bot, bleep, bloop.
2.) Found the Bastion main

On the fringes of the Dominion, an unsuspecting world has become the target of a rapid zerg infestation… The new Dead of Night patch is upon StarCraft and will be coming in Patch 3.11. The Dead of Night is inspired by the very popular Blizzard Arcade co-op game Left2Die that is created by Blizzard Entertainment back in 2011. There will be new infested units coming with this patch as well as a ton of other changes pertaining to the multiplayer aspects of the game. To find out more about Patch 3.11, you can check out more about that here!

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

Besides just amazing Heroes esports game play coming out of Poland as part of the the HGC Western Clash this past week, we also got a new hero announcement! The Heroes team teased it on Twitter earlier in the week, and everyone’s minds were going in a ton of different directions. But when it came time for the reveal it was pretty evident who the announcement was going to be. The sounds of the Protoss Probe could be playing in the background and then they announced that Probius, the Protoss Probe, will be the next hero warping into the Nexus! It’s unique play style will bring some much needed diversity to the Nexus. But that’s not the only think that was announced, but the return of Hero fire, as well as some UI changes will be coming shorty. Lots of great changes coming to the Nexus, and if you want to read more about them, you  can check out this article here!

The community hit the nail on the head with what would be next in Hearthstone. This past week Ben Brode sat down around a campfire to let us all know that Journey to Un’goro will be the next 135 card expansion coming to the game. Not only will we see new cards, and game board, we will also see a new affix being added to the cards. The new adapt affix will give players more control of what their cards will do letting them be able to select between different minion skills like taunt, windfury, +3 attack, and more. But will the dinosaurs and elementals be enough to take out the Pirates? Only time will tell… Check out the official announcement here!

Overwatch News Banner

Last week was a huge reveal week for Blizzard Entertainment, and finally it put some rest to the amount of theories about who would become hero 24 in Overwatch. After a late Monday tease, we didn’t have to wait long for Blizzard to finally reveal that the next Hero would be Orisa! Orisa, a creation of Efi, will be a tank hero who will help fill the role of anchor tank, and team buffer. Orisa is available on the PTR and will be releasing into the general population probably sooner than we hope. To find out more about Orisa, check out her announcement here.

After the Nerdz played a lot of Overwatch this past week with new players and friends from their World of Warcraft, the topic of the Overwatch match making system was brought up. We discuss different aspects of it, but in order to hear about it all, check out Episode 147!

Episode 146 – “Don’t Be A Todd”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 146 called “Don’t Be A Todd.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, February 26th, 2017.

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past week in video games before we move onto another one of our Warcraft Top 5 Saltiest lists of the week and introduce another living Warcraft meme. Then we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion starting with a impressive ending to a global StarCraft match, an impressive feedback post from the Heroes community, a professional Hearthstone player goes into retirement, botters becoming a problem in Diablo seasons, Overwatch wins two new awards, Korean Overwatch hackers now being tracked by their government, more rumors coming out of Numbani, and then we move onto our World of Warcraft discussion. This week we talk about the PVP community being upset about upcoming changes, then we offer up another Warcraft twitter poll, then we talk about this last weeks Legion Q&A.

But no episode would be complete without discussing another Blizzard Arcade game. This week we discuss a 2017 Rock the Cabinet submission called Scavenger Hunt. Then it’s time to say our weekly goodbyes!

If you have any questions, comments or concerns for the show, feel free to contact us via email at IceBox@FrozeNerdz.com. But without further ado, sit back relax and enjoy Episode 146 of the Frozen Nerdz Podcast!

Here are a few ways you can do that!

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Warcraft universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to something Lore said about…. Todd… If you want to find out more about Todd, check out this forum article!

Top 5 Saltiest Todd Comments:

5.) I hate Todd Before we were wiping at 1% continuously because Todd only got 34 points instead of 54 like everyone else in the raid, but now we have a much harder time carrying Todd.
4.) Screw Todd. Get him off my team and bring in someone who has the time and gear to do the work. Todd can go find himself a home in a less progressed guild of like minded and geared players. WE DON”T WANT TODD.
3.) …..who the flying fresh squeezed orange juice is Todd?
2.) I hope Todd gets /gkicked
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

This past week in StarCraft Global play, Ryung uses his insane ubermicro to secure a victory by using his marines. Using marines to win a match isn’t something new for the StarCraft scene, but it is something you rarely see happen in this high level of play. Check out this Twitch video of the action, and see for yourself!

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

It’s not every day that the community sits back and provides constructive feedback to game developers, so when a positive constructive feedback post formed on the forums this past week, it caught the attention of many members within the Heroes community. The player talk about heroes that need reworks, balances, and improvements to increase their competitiveness within the current meta and hero play. If you want to see what quality feedback looks like, or want to add to the discussion, head over to the forums to do so!

We’ve talked about Hearthstone card bloat and current state of imbalance on the show before, but now we have one Hearthstone professional player who says he’s walking away from the game for that very reason. ‘Lifecoach’ has announced this past week that he will be giving up Hearthstone due to the imbalance. In his video, he tells the audience how he will never again be talking, or playing Hearthstone because he says “I really have to assume that they are either not capable of changing that or that they are not willing to do that.” To hear it for yourself, check out his video here.

Diablo is a game created around mostly single player content and is well known for it’s never ending grind of content that drives players insane. But some players are taking it to the next level and using bots to farm their gear, and make it so that they can push rank during the current season ladder play, and like always this cheating has infuriated the community. “Play nice, play fair” is one of Blizzards mottos, but they haven’t done anything about it yet, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not on their radar. If you want to see what the community is saying, or add more about how much cheaters suck, you can add those comments to this article here!

Overwatch News Banner

There are a few contests in the Overwatch world as of late. Besides cheaters and rumors about the next hero, the Overwatch universe is full of …. awards! This past week Overwatch walked away with the most coveted DICE game award! The award was so special that Jeff Kaplan left his recording studio to actually accept the award in person at the event! The DICE awards are presented by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, so they are totally legit unlike the Frozen Nerdz Game of the Year award! If you want to check out the other winners, you can see the list of them here!

But it wouldn’t be another week without Overwatch cheater talk, and this week is no different. It was announced this past week that Blizzard and the South Korean government are working together to crack down on the cheating in their PC Bangs. Going forward players will have to use their Korean Social Security number in order to play Overwatch at the PC bangs, and will have to personally own the a copy of the game to play on other region servers. This is a huge step in the right direction! If you want learn more about this and banning, check out this article here!

But now its Overwatch rumor time! It wouldn’t be a week without the stock cost of tinfoil to go through the roof! This past week Blizzard shared an Overwatch news article about a young up and coming scientist called Efi. She specializes in robotics and onimic technology and is taking a trip shortly out of Numbani. But while she is at the airport, there is an incident and Doomfist’s glove is now missing! There is a lot of speculation going around right now, but all we can do is wait a see! You can find out more about Efi here, and what’s going on in Numbani here. But hopefully we will be finding out more about all of this shortly!

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The WOW PVP community is upset…. again. Details.
2.) Our Weekly PVP related Twitter Poll!
3.) We discuss this past week’s Legion Q&A! Recap here.

You can also listen to Epicinsanity give a recap of this Q&A by listening to S02E18 of the Epic Questions podcast! Details here.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Scavenger Hunt
Type: Co-op commander mission
Creator: Azureguy
Details: This is a Rock the cabinet 2017 submission for creating a Co-op commander mission to test what a pair of friends can do.  Object of this mission is to protect a character named Christopher while he collects things that were lost in a crash landing of his ship, amon’s forces are working to prevent you from getting to them and its up to you to work quickly to build a base and start producing troops quickly as the game takes off at a breakneck pace.  The main guy you have to protect puts himself in danger rather quickly and it takes a ton of coordination to bring together enough forces to protect his initial push to a missing item.  The already established enemies have stronger forces than you at the start which can make this difficult.  With a team mate it makes this more feasible, however there is currently no AI in the game to allow for you to play with an AI on your team and come out ahead so you will have to do it all alone.  Overall this is a crazy mission invoking real challenges and was worth playing for both of us as we worked as a team trashing the enemies and playing like pros.

Game: Zerus Assault v1.4
Type: Strategy
Creator: TiBzZO

Details: Not every game in the Starcade is a game that is built to be different from the normal RTS sometimes they take directly from the regular starcraft RTS and add new challenges for the players.  This game involves 2 aspects, one is a constant assault on a Terran AI who is your ally, they are land locked from you and you can aid them directly so you have to indirectly stop the zerg onslaught before they happen. Seems reasonable but in addition to that you are also being assaulted by a protoss army that is far more formidable and advanced than you are from the start, so you have to be mindful of building base defenses asap otherwise you will get eradicated almost immediately and the game will be a loss.  Overall this game is very difficult and provides interesting challenges at first, but once you overcome them the skill requirement drops off fairly fast and can leave you wondering if the game is finished yet.

4.) The 4-6 invasion quests one has to complete for one’s Emissary Cache or to move on to boarding the Legion ship are not enjoyable because they are all the same.
3.) Why bother with 7.2 PTR after 7.1.5 PTR?

Game: Trancespace Fortress v1.10
Type: Strategy
Creator: Galdios

Details: The primary object of this game is to build structures that will automatically run zealots up a lane that is assigned to you.  You must use your hero that you select at the beginning of the game to assist your zealots in wiping out the terran forces. Some neat aspects to this game are when you destroy a building you gain mineral increase based off of the number of buildings that you own.  Be sure to rush in to take as many buildings as you can between waves so that you can upgrade your buildings to higher levels.  Great game in concept however there is 1 major problem  there are 3 lanes to defend and if you queue solo you will be unable to defend all 3 lanes, be sure to bring a friend as the AI in this game currently only works on the Terran side.  If you want an extreme challenge you can try and solo this game but it is strongly advised you bring others.  Definitely a good game build so far and can’t wait to see improvements by the creator.

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

In typical Heroes of the Storm fashion, this past week the team started teasing their next Hero they are working on. Straight out of Hearthstone… or was it Warcraft… who knows? But Valeera Sanguinar is coming to the Nexus!

This past week was Q&A week at Blizzard, so we were able to get a Q&A from the Hearthstone team! Ben Brodes showed his true passions for the game as he answered a ton of player questions. From discussing the over poweredness of Pirate Warriors, to the grindiness of climbing the ladder each season and more. If you would like to read the recap of it, check it out on Reddit here. Or if you want to watch/hear the Q&A check it out on Twitch.tv.

Overwatch News Banner

With over 20 Million players, you are bound to find a cheater or two inside the game. But in the case of Overwatch over 10,000 cheaters were banned this past week for cheating for different things within the game. Most of them were using different times of aimbot, but there is a new type of cheating that has come to the surface and it’s called “Nuking.” Nuking is basically a small DDOS that effects the server that the match is specifically on causing the match to slow down and become extremely laggy. If you want to see nuking in action, check out this Kotaku article.

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) January 12th Legion Q&A Recap
2.) Our thoughts about the Legion Q&A.
3.) Our thoughts about Patch 7.1.5 so far!

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Rock-Scissors-Paper Roach v.20
Type: Tug of War, Resource Grab
Creator: Neutro

Details: This is a strange one… the game is designed in a triangle shape where there are 3 teams who are all competing for available vespene collectors, with the goal to keep your opponents off of the vespene while you collect it to win.  Great concept has a ton of different ways to go about defense or attack.  So what does Rock Scissors Paper have to do with it? Well the Roaches you can select are lumped into those 3 categories and each one has a benefit over the other just like in the hand game. Use the various roach types and a strong team strategy and you can walk away the winner, sadly this game does require you have human opponents as there is no AI built into the game.  It may seem immediately overwhelming to figure out but remember it is just rock paper scissors kind of maybe ok not really.

Even though there aren’t seasons in the Nexus, the Heroes of the Storm team added a new…. Snowbrawl to the game for this week. If you were lucky enough to check it out you found out quickly that it had a nice spin to the classic MOBA style game where you could select different snow balls on the map to destroy your enemies with either single shots, or some massive AOE damage! But this new brawl brings up the discussion on different seasons that could be brought to the Nexus in order to change the look and feel of the different maps as the year goes on. To find out more about this discussion listen to this week’s episode as these icy nerdz talk about their thoughts of snow covered maps in Heroes!

On December 31st, 1996 the Lord of Terror was first released on Sanctuary. And over the past 20 years, we have made numerous memories within the Cathedral, Tristam and beyond. But Blizzard decided to take it one step further and decided to add Diablo to Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft, Hearthstone, Overwatch and World of Warcraft. Each game is getting a different type of event in order to showcase some of the awesome aspects of Diablo in their own way. World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) World of Warcraft is being added to the California Computer History Museum. Details.
2.) With 2017 upon us, what could be in store for Azeroth? The nerdz talk about just that this week on Episode 138!

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: USA v1.12
Type: Control Map
Creator: DarcZaFire

Details: Interesting game, the map is set up to look exactly like the Main part of the USA, the map is broken down by 48 states with 48 supply depots with 1 major objective capture as many as you can and defeat your opponent using your gradually increasing resources from capturing the map around you.  Some strategy is necessary to dominate your opponent and using the continent to your advantage plays a huge role in doing this correctly. Some tips for those who would embark on playing this, the more supply depots you can get into view at 1 time the faster you can churn out marines to take over the map, and it is important to not expand in a way that makes it hard for you to defend your back line.  Overall this game is fast paced and is an excellent smash and grab land rush, the lack of AI makes this game require others to play with but the more you get the harder and more exciting this game becomes.
