Episode 153 – “Insert Creative Title Here”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 153 called “Insert Creative Title Here.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, April 16th, 2017.

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past week in video games before we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion where we talk about David Kim leaving the StarCraft team, then we go over last week’s BlizzCon IceBox poll, the Diablo Necromancer Beta is live, the Overwatch Uprising event is upon us, then we move onto our World of Warcraft discussion. This week we talk about an unexpected Sunday game server downtime, hidden secrets and riddles discovered, and a recent Dev Interview with Gamespot.

But before we go, we have another amazing Warcraft themed Blizzard Arcade game to talk about called Caverns of Time – Savior of the Horde. And then we say our weekly goodbyes.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns for the show, feel free to contact us via email at IceBox@FrozeNerdz.com. But without further ado, sit back relax and enjoy Episode 153 of the Frozen Nerdz Podcast!

Here are a few ways you can do that!

Last week on the StarCraft forums, it was announced that David Kim will be leaving his position as Senior Game Designer on StarCraft II to join an unannounced project at Blizzard Entertainment. Kim didn’t start out as a game designer, but started out as a StarCraft professional player who won the BlizzCon 2009 2 vs 2 exhibition match with his team. Clearing the chant here that day of “Nerf David Kim” was something that we should still be chanting. Kim has raised through the ranks of StarCraft and has even helped work on a few of the Heroes of the Storm maps. So whatever unannounced project that David Kim will be working on, it is in good hands. We wish him the best, and we hope to hear more about this project in the coming months! If you are interested in reading his goodbye letter on the forums, you can check it out here.

We discovered it after the show was recorded, but it was discovered that Hearthstone will be having an “Art of Hearthstone” book released on Amazon! It doesn’t come out until October 2017, but you should get it just in time to bring it with you to BlizzCon and get all your favorite Hearthstone artists and developers to sign it! If you want to pre-order a copy today AND support the show, click on this link, or the ad here.

We talked about the announcement just last week, but already this week it has been announced that the Diablo Necromancer Beta has already started! Just recently at BlizzCon it was announced that this new DLC would be coming to Diablo, but now it’s actually playable by those who got invited to test the beta. (Sadly, we didn’t sacrifice enough gnomes to the Lord of Destruction himself to gain invites). But so far the community is already in full testing mode, and they are making quick haste of finding bugs and providing feedback! If you want to be part of the beta, make sure your Beta Preferences are set up to have Diablo checked. To find out more about the Necromancer DLC, check out everything here!

Overwatch News Banner

In typical Blizzard fashion, they waited until we had recorded, edited and published our last episode and then they announced the latest Overwatch event! The Uprising event brings over 100 new items to the game, with some awesome throwback to the beginning of Overwatch skins for a few heroes like Mercy, Reinhardt, Tracer, and more. This new event offers more than just more loot, it also offers another awesome PVE experience in a modified version of King’s Row. In this game mode, you are working together as a team of four attempting to advance until the end of the map completing objectives along the way. It has several different difficulties, but is a blast to play overall. You have until May 1st to check it out, so don’t hesitate and miss this awesome event! You can find out more about this event here!

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:
1.) Strange Sunday game server outage. Cause: Unknown.
2.) Riddle me this, Riddle me that…. Warcraft players solve a hidden riddle!
3.) Dev Interview with Gamespot.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Caverns of Time – Savior of the Horde v1.2
Type: RPG
Creator: Shakarax
Our Review: Wow, this is really polished it was unbelievably fun in ways we didn’t think possible in the arcade.  You start the game with thrall and 3 defenders and relive the downfall of Mannoroth and the freeing of the orcs from the felblood.  Work your way through the dungeon to assist Chromie in resetting the timeline and reap the rewards.  The game wasn’t extremely difficult but it had some great programming elements and the story was fun and engaging to follow through with actual cut scenes occurring through the dungeon. This game was fast paced and shows off just how amazing the arcade can be.

Here are a few ways you can do that!

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the ticket purchasing site Universe.

Top 5 Saltiest Universe Users

5.)How exactly are humans supposed to be able to buy tickets for this? We can’t compete with ebay scalper bots when the very instant tickets are for sale they’re already gone.
4.)I feel like if you get into the line and are ready to put in information, YOU GET A TICKET.
3.)For all the issues Eventbrite had, at least when you got to enter in your info, you had 15 minutes to do so. If Universe had this system, it would be even better.
2.)Sold out in 6min…. and this time they took down the ability to buy a ticket from the universe app… gg. 🙁
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

All of the General admission tickets for BlizzCon 2017 have come and gone in record time. In under 10 minutes, all the tickets have been sold, but the community is not happy with the changes they have been made to the ticket process, or the ticket process in general. On this weeks show, we talk about the changes that could be made in order to actually improve the system, but first we reach out to our community to help us with this week’s IceBox Twitter poll!

If you are attending BlizzCon, LET US KNOW! We’d love to meet you, shake your hand, hug you, or dance in the pale moonlight with you.

At BlizzCon 2016, the StarCraft team announced that they would be working together with Google Deepmind in order to create a more advanced Artificial Intelligence by using information taken for playing StarCraft. This past week it was announced a team from China’s Alibaba has published a paper describing a system they have created that will increase it’s overall success with creating this awesome AI. You can find out more about their research here!

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

Thousands of college teams signed up for Heroes of the Dorm, but only one could be crowned champion. This past week in Vegas, the University of Texas – Arlington Marvicks went 29 – 0 in order to secure the championship. They locked in and received college tuition, and bragging rights across the Heroes of the Storm world! You can hear more about their story here!

Last week the new Hearthstone expansion, Journey to Un’goro, was released. And already there has been an exploit that was discovered while YouTube/Twitch streamer Disguised Toast discovered that you could skip your opponent’s turn with infinite Shadow Visions card play. Thankfully this exploit was caught by a top end streamer, so that hopefully it will be corrected soon! You can check it out here.

We have been waiting since November 2016 for the Necromancer patch to be announced, and the wait is almost over! This past week, the Diablo team came out to let us know that the Necromancer Beta is almost upon us! And since it is paid content, it will have a beta instead of a PTR test, so if you are interested in checking out the latest content, make sure you are signed up for Diablo betas! You can find more out about the Necromancer and the beta here!

Overwatch News Banner

The Overwatch world was busy this past week, not only did Lunatic-Hai win the Overwatch APEX Season 2 finals in the first ever Blizzard estadium in Taiwan. But it was announced that Overwatch shout-casters MonteCristo and DoA will be departing South Korea to cast Blizzard’s Overwatch League in the United States. This is a huge move in the direction that Overwatch esports will be taking. And its more news about the Overwatch League! Find out more on ESPN here!

This past week, Overwatch announced another digital comic called, “Uprising.” This comic is set in the time before most of the Overwatch crisis. It shows the introduction to Tracer, and more about the organization in the beginning. You can check out the comic here!

It appears that there is an upcoming announcement that will be releasing more skins related to the comic coming on April 11th, 2017. It’s been leaked on Xbox Live and Playstation already. You can see some of the teased skins here.

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) This past week the Legion Assaults started and changes were made to the Pathfinder 2.0 achievement for flying. Check it out here.

It’s that time of the year again when we hear about what’s next for the Rock the Cabinet contest. This year brings a whole new concept by it being based around Co-op missions! Like previous years, creators will have the chance to walk away with $10,000 USD, tickets to a future BlizzCon, and a chance to sit down and have a developer jam session with Blizzard themselves! If you are a Blizzard Arcade creator, take the time to read over the full details of the contest, and we will see you inside the StarCrade!

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: You Are what you Eat v0.33
Type: Co-Op Command
Creator: Gastu
Details: Abathur has created a new zerg type called the consumalisc, it is your job as the commander in this map to protect this creature as it grows in strength traveling across the map consuming amons forces to gain strength. Very challenging and sets off at a very fast pace.  You are given some building percs at the beginning like a 200 resource pool to start so you can get right into creating troops as you need.  It is important to work with your partner to keep your base and the consumalisc safe.  Overall a solid co-op game and has almost all the aspects that make the current co-op commander missions fun.  However you have to play with people because your AI team mate wont help you.

Last week, the Heroes team had a huge announcement for everyone… they are releasing Heroes 2.0! It’s already in Open Beta and everyone is encouraged to come out and test the changes. The list of things changing are new skins, loot crates, new leveling system, and much much more. We’d suggest checking out the laundry list of changes coming for yourself to take it all in. But, is it really needed?

This week the Journey finally starts! Everyone grab your shoes, and pack your backpack, we are going to Un’goro!!! The latest Hearthstone expansion will be coming live on Thursday, April 8th. There are a lot of changes coming, and it’s an exiting time to be a fan of Hearthstone!

Game: Muad’dib’s Pokemon Adventure v0.3
Type: RPG adventure
Creator: PaulMuaDib
Details: This game had to take some time for the creator to make,  they input all of the names of every pokemon into the game and set it up like an open world environment.  You start the game by selecting 1 pokemon just as you would in the handheld games.  Then as you conquer battles against wild pokemon you will be able to get more as the game continues.  The ultimate goal is to conquer the elite four.  Use good strategy and you will progress through this game but it is very challenging and if all your pokemon get defeated the game is over for you.  Truly challenging may need some more work but very worth the play through.

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Overwatch universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to ‘Has anyone else been experiencing a sudden influx of “Waiting for Players” games recently?’

Top 5 Saltiest Waiting for Player Complaints.

5.) I kinda don’t get why there’s even a “waiting for players” mode
4.) Everyone’s playing Breath of the Wild.
3.) Maybe this is what I suspected would happen. Server browser would kill QP.
2.) Working as intended.

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

This past week, the Hereos team announced the return of the For Azeroth! event for those players that missed it. It will be extended until Sunday, March 26. So this time, don’t hesitate and finish out your 15 matches using Warcraft heroes with friends before it goes away forever!

This year, we will be having the Frozen Nerdz Heroes of the Dorm Bracket Challenge! Points don’t matter, but only the winners. Epicinsanity picked UC Irvine, and Kilroy selected Illinois to go all the way! Who will be the winner this year?! Find out at the Grand Finals on April 8th!

This past week during a Hearthstone live stream, more cards we revealed for the upcoming Hearthstone expansion called Journey to Un’Goro. If you want to check out the broadcast, you can find it here. Or if you don’t have time to watch the whole VOD, you can check out the cards itself here!

We’ve talked about the end of Season 9 c0ming, and we have talked about what’s coming for Season 10, but we have more exciting New’s about S10! And that’s Seasons are finally coming to consoles!!!! It’s exciting to see that Blizzard is giving some love to the console community, but they are also giving all Diablo players exciting new things with season 10 such as cosmetic rewards, season journey rewards, seasonal conquests and more! Overwatch News Banner

This past week a very little known Overwatch pro team “Meta Athena” which is mainly comprised of Korean High School students is sweeping the APEX Tournament with some insane meta breaking gameplay. No only did they take out one of the top teams, they have their sights on winning the whole tournament. Check out some of their insane play here.

Orisa activates today!

Very often the Overwatch team listens to the complaints of players, and in the latest PTR build they are doing just that. They are adding a  “tracking system has been added to Assault and Assault/Escort Maps that will allow us to break ties based on the progress that was made toward capturing the objective.” Even thought community wanted change, some of the changes that have been seen on PTR is causing more problems than good. If you want to check out the PTR notes and help Overwatch test head over here and help out!

Game: Burning Swarm
Type: Co-Op
Creator: VioletAiur
Details: It seems that Amon is creating a new Hybrid KRONOS to rule Zerg Swarm in Char. Hybrid KRONOS would dominate Zerg Swarm with its powerful psionic energy. Can you deal with Amon’s strong army and supernatural Hybrid KRONOS, both of them? The destiny of Koprulu is in your hand!  This game is a straightforward Co-Op RTS with the factor of having to counter and dodge the incoming abilities of the boss. Thankfully the creator of this game has created a single player option for testing, so it allows for more play time and less downtime waiting for the game to fill.

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Warcraft universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to Real Life money service sellers. Details found here.

Top 5 Saltiest Real Life Money Seller comments

5.) What about the people that only did gold sales but still got banned?
4.) Only did “gold” sales. Lol. Okay buddy, get out with playing the victim.
3.) ”top raiding guilds” ahaha like raiding guilds matter anymore, everyone is using raid finder noone cares about those oldschool outdated nerds
2.)But at the end of the day, what is the difference between selling runs for gold and runs for real money?
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

During this past week’s Legion Q&A, one of the members of the Warcraft esports team got a chance to revealed the changes coming to WoW esports! A lot of these changes appears to be widely appreciated by the top WoW esports players themselves, so the changes must be good. Some of the changes are that they are moving over to a point system similar to that of StarCraft WCS that gives teams points for winning tournaments, which includes Blizzard and community approved events. They are also increasing the amount of money players can make from these battles, and are allowing 12 teams to compete at the Global finals instead of just the previous 8. With all these PVP arena changes coming to WoW esports, when will the PVE community start getting in on the action? To find out more about these changes, and to join in on the conversation, check out this blog article here!

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

This past weekend the Heroes of the Dorm date was revealed as well as the location of this years event! It appears that Heroes of the Dorm will be returning to Vegas the first weekend in April (April 8th). Similar to last year, the event will also have it’s 2017 Bracket Challenge. The challenge follows similar rules of the NCAA March Madness challenge where it matches up the teams and you pick the winners with hopes of getting the grand prize. This year Blizzard will be giving away $10,000 to the winner of the challenge, as well as Kerrigan Cheerleader skin codes to the Top 500 finishers. But that’s just for the fans at home, for the players in the tournament, they will be fitting for college tuition! Could you imagine telling your parents that you got your college paid for by playing a video game?! If you want to find out more about Heroes of the Dorm, or make your Bracket, head over to this article and start today!

Following a similar format of the Overwatch World Cup from last year, this year the Hearthstone team has announced the Hearthstone Global Games. The event will host players from all over the globe, but its not based on their win rating, its all based on their community appeal because the fans of the game are the ones voting on who is going to be representing their country at the tournament! On the Hearthstone page, players are asking to represent their countries and looking for your vote and support! Overwatch News Banner

It wouldn’t be a week, or a show without more news coming from the Overwatch camp. This week is a little different because we aren’t talking about hackers or wearing any tin foil on our heads, but we did get a new digital comic called “Binary” that features Bastion and Torb! It’s a new story that we haven’t heard before, and gives more insight into Bastion! You can read it here!

But also this week, Jeff Kaplan went to the forums to let us all know that Orisa isn’t coming to live just yet due to an extended testing period! This is exciting news because it truly means that the Overwatch team is listening to the community about how fast new heroes are being released onto live servers. But that’s not all that Jeff had to say on the forums this week, he also asked players to stop abusing the server browser, and custom games for farming XP. He came out to ask the community to help police the system because if it’s not control, or stopped, custom games could lose their ability to reward XP all together which would result in less players actually participating in this style of game play. So if you see cheaters, report them before we all lose this awesome style of game play!

But that also brings up our next project we are working on at FrozeNerdz. And that’s the Overwatch Arcade! The Overwatch Arcade will be a YouTube video series that is released every Friday that showcases on game from this past week’s server browser. These games are created by members of the community and are a blast to play! Using a similar ranking scale as the StarCade, Epicinsanity will be playing, ranking and showing you why these game modes are successful or not! Find out more about the Overwatch Arcade by checking out our intro video here:

Or you can check out the main page, or follow us on Twitter at @OverwatchArcade today!

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discuss the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The PVP #LegionQA with Holinka! Check out the video here!
2.) Last week’s IceBox Poll: Would you be able to play #Warcraft without your addons? Results here!
3.) World of Warcraft takes action against players who are selling raid carries, arena boosts, and other in-game services for real life money. Details found here.

This week’s IceBox Twitter Poll:

Game: Weathered Shelter
Type: Co-Op
Creator: DeProgrammer
Details: This is a 2017 Rock the Cabinet contest entry.  This game is  slower paced but is entirely doable as a solo mission if you choose AI. The AI doesn’t really take part in doing the objectives. The story behind this map is pretty interesting and has some really cool layers to it.  The primary objective of this map is to find and destroy old Terran power plants and build new ones in their places.  This leads way to a destabilization of an anti warp field, which allows Protoss forces to warp in and attack you. Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal, but you are already having to deal with Amon’s forces coming at you in waves throughout the entire campaign.  You will lose the game if your base is destroyed or if 2 of the new power plants get destroyed.  But you will win if all the old plants get replaced in time.  Overall this game has a solid showing for a Co-op game, it even comes with its own voice overs to help tell you the story. The lack of AI impacted it but overall this game was super fun for us to play.

Besides just amazing Heroes esports game play coming out of Poland as part of the the HGC Western Clash this past week, we also got a new hero announcement! The Heroes team teased it on Twitter earlier in the week, and everyone’s minds were going in a ton of different directions. But when it came time for the reveal it was pretty evident who the announcement was going to be. The sounds of the Protoss Probe could be playing in the background and then they announced that Probius, the Protoss Probe, will be the next hero warping into the Nexus! It’s unique play style will bring some much needed diversity to the Nexus. But that’s not the only think that was announced, but the return of Hero fire, as well as some UI changes will be coming shorty. Lots of great changes coming to the Nexus, and if you want to read more about them, you  can check out this article here!

The community hit the nail on the head with what would be next in Hearthstone. This past week Ben Brode sat down around a campfire to let us all know that Journey to Un’goro will be the next 135 card expansion coming to the game. Not only will we see new cards, and game board, we will also see a new affix being added to the cards. The new adapt affix will give players more control of what their cards will do letting them be able to select between different minion skills like taunt, windfury, +3 attack, and more. But will the dinosaurs and elementals be enough to take out the Pirates? Only time will tell… Check out the official announcement here!

Last week was a huge reveal week for Blizzard Entertainment, and finally it put some rest to the amount of theories about who would become hero 24 in Overwatch. After a late Monday tease, we didn’t have to wait long for Blizzard to finally reveal that the next Hero would be Orisa! Orisa, a creation of Efi, will be a tank hero who will help fill the role of anchor tank, and team buffer. Orisa is available on the PTR and will be releasing into the general population probably sooner than we hope. To find out more about Orisa, check out her announcement here.

After the Nerdz played a lot of Overwatch this past week with new players and friends from their World of Warcraft, the topic of the Overwatch match making system was brought up. We discuss different aspects of it, but in order to hear about it all, check out Episode 147!

Episode 146 – “Don’t Be A Todd”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 146 called “Don’t Be A Todd.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, February 26th, 2017.

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past week in video games before we move onto another one of our Warcraft Top 5 Saltiest lists of the week and introduce another living Warcraft meme. Then we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion starting with a impressive ending to a global StarCraft match, an impressive feedback post from the Heroes community, a professional Hearthstone player goes into retirement, botters becoming a problem in Diablo seasons, Overwatch wins two new awards, Korean Overwatch hackers now being tracked by their government, more rumors coming out of Numbani, and then we move onto our World of Warcraft discussion. This week we talk about the PVP community being upset about upcoming changes, then we offer up another Warcraft twitter poll, then we talk about this last weeks Legion Q&A.

But no episode would be complete without discussing another Blizzard Arcade game. This week we discuss a 2017 Rock the Cabinet submission called Scavenger Hunt. Then it’s time to say our weekly goodbyes!

Here are a few ways you can do that!

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Warcraft universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to something Lore said about…. Todd… If you want to find out more about Todd, check out this forum article!

Top 5 Saltiest Todd Comments:

5.) I hate Todd Before we were wiping at 1% continuously because Todd only got 34 points instead of 54 like everyone else in the raid, but now we have a much harder time carrying Todd.
4.) Screw Todd. Get him off my team and bring in someone who has the time and gear to do the work. Todd can go find himself a home in a less progressed guild of like minded and geared players. WE DON”T WANT TODD.
3.) …..who the flying fresh squeezed orange juice is Todd?
2.) I hope Todd gets /gkicked
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

This past week in StarCraft Global play, Ryung uses his insane ubermicro to secure a victory by using his marines. Using marines to win a match isn’t something new for the StarCraft scene, but it is something you rarely see happen in this high level of play. Check out this Twitch video of the action, and see for yourself!

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

It’s not every day that the community sits back and provides constructive feedback to game developers, so when a positive constructive feedback post formed on the forums this past week, it caught the attention of many members within the Heroes community. The player talk about heroes that need reworks, balances, and improvements to increase their competitiveness within the current meta and hero play. If you want to see what quality feedback looks like, or want to add to the discussion, head over to the forums to do so!

We’ve talked about Hearthstone card bloat and current state of imbalance on the show before, but now we have one Hearthstone professional player who says he’s walking away from the game for that very reason. ‘Lifecoach’ has announced this past week that he will be giving up Hearthstone due to the imbalance. In his video, he tells the audience how he will never again be talking, or playing Hearthstone because he says “I really have to assume that they are either not capable of changing that or that they are not willing to do that.” To hear it for yourself, check out his video here.

Diablo is a game created around mostly single player content and is well known for it’s never ending grind of content that drives players insane. But some players are taking it to the next level and using bots to farm their gear, and make it so that they can push rank during the current season ladder play, and like always this cheating has infuriated the community. “Play nice, play fair” is one of Blizzards mottos, but they haven’t done anything about it yet, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not on their radar. If you want to see what the community is saying, or add more about how much cheaters suck, you can add those comments to this article here!

Overwatch News Banner

There are a few contests in the Overwatch world as of late. Besides cheaters and rumors about the next hero, the Overwatch universe is full of …. awards! This past week Overwatch walked away with the most coveted DICE game award! The award was so special that Jeff Kaplan left his recording studio to actually accept the award in person at the event! The DICE awards are presented by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, so they are totally legit unlike the Frozen Nerdz Game of the Year award! If you want to check out the other winners, you can see the list of them here!

But it wouldn’t be another week without Overwatch cheater talk, and this week is no different. It was announced this past week that Blizzard and the South Korean government are working together to crack down on the cheating in their PC Bangs. Going forward players will have to use their Korean Social Security number in order to play Overwatch at the PC bangs, and will have to personally own the a copy of the game to play on other region servers. This is a huge step in the right direction! If you want learn more about this and banning, check out this article here!

But now its Overwatch rumor time! It wouldn’t be a week without the stock cost of tinfoil to go through the roof! This past week Blizzard shared an Overwatch news article about a young up and coming scientist called Efi. She specializes in robotics and onimic technology and is taking a trip shortly out of Numbani. But while she is at the airport, there is an incident and Doomfist’s glove is now missing! There is a lot of speculation going around right now, but all we can do is wait a see! You can find out more about Efi here, and what’s going on in Numbani here. But hopefully we will be finding out more about all of this shortly!

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The WOW PVP community is upset…. again. Details.
2.) Our Weekly PVP related Twitter Poll!
3.) We discuss this past week’s Legion Q&A! Recap here.

You can also listen to Epicinsanity give a recap of this Q&A by listening to S02E18 of the Epic Questions podcast! Details here.

It’s that time of the year again when we hear about what’s next for the Rock the Cabinet contest. This year brings a whole new concept by it being based around Co-op missions! Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Scavenger Hunt
Type: Co-op commander mission
Creator: Azureguy
Details: This is a Rock the cabinet 2017 submission for creating a Co-op commander mission to test what a pair of friends can do.  Object of this mission is to protect a character named Christopher while he collects things that were lost in a crash landing of his ship, amon’s forces are working to prevent you from getting to them and its up to you to work quickly to build a base and start producing troops quickly as the game takes off at a breakneck pace.  The main guy you have to protect puts himself in danger rather quickly and it takes a ton of coordination to bring together enough forces to protect his initial push to a missing item.  The already established enemies have stronger forces than you at the start which can make this difficult.  With a team mate it makes this more feasible, however there is currently no AI in the game to allow for you to play with an AI on your team and come out ahead so you will have to do it all alone.  Overall this is a crazy mission invoking real challenges and was worth playing for both of us as we worked as a team trashing the enemies and playing like pros.

Here are a few ways you can do that!

Each and every week we scour news articles and blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Warcraft universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to legendary drops in World of Warcraft. You can read more about the article that sparked the salt mines to open here!

Top 5 Saltiest Legendary Drop Rate Comments

5.)No matter how long it takes, it still sucks getting a Sephuz
4.)That would explain how one dude in a single LFR wing received not 1 but 2 legendaries within 3 bosses.
3.)Yeah, still is a bad system when looting a legendary generally makes you feel disappointed.
2.)I’ve seen 2 legendary items drop across 3 110 characters I play daily since august the 2nd one being literally last week on my warrior so apparently I have the pooiests RNG in the universe.
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

It was announced this past week that after many years of support Blizzard will no longer be supporting the operating system Windows XP. For most of you that comes as no surprise, but there are plenty of people in the community that will be affected by these changes. But serveral years ago Microsoft themselves stopped offering support for Windows XP so it was only time before other major companies followed suit. If you want to read more about the removal of support, check out this article here.

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

We talked about it last week on the show but this week we actually played it! The For Azeroth event started on February 14 and runs until March 14. The way the event works is you receive one mount for World of Warcraft and one mount for Heroes of the Storm while playing Warcraft heroes with friends. This can be down in AI with AI teams so have no fear if you aren’t uberleet in the game or just want a chance to play the game with some new friends! With Heroes of the Storm being 100% free to play, you can download the game today and start your epic quest for two mounts! For more information about the event, check out all the details here!

First we just want to say how wrong we were with the Un’goro leak becoming an adventure in Hearthstone, because this past week it was announced that in the Year of the Mammoth there will be THREE full 130 card expansions coming. The release cycle is set for early 2017, mid-2017 and the end of 2017. But that’s not the only exciting thing thats changing in Hearthstone, they are making some major changes to a few neutral cards in the game and moving them to the Hall of the Fame and awarding players dust of each one of them that they had. This comes to a surprise for some players and created a lot of questions for other players. But the good news is this week the Hearthstone team will be sitting down and doing a Q&A for everyone on February 21 at 11 a.m. PST on Twitch! To find out more about the Year of the Mammoth, check out this article. To find out more about the upcoming Q&A, check out this article!

Overwatch News Banner

It seems like a week doesn’t go by without players within the Overwatch community putting on their tinfoil hats and digging deep into the dark corners of the internet to discover what’s possibly hidden in the unwritten things within the game. It all started with the Sombra ARG last summer, then shifted to Terry Cruz as Doomfist and now we have even ANOTHER possible new hero coming to Overwatch. And we figured since everyone else is allows to just make stuff up, we create a brand new hero live on the show this week! Do you think our new hero will be the next big thing in Overwatch? Listen to Episode 145 to find out! But if you want to see what everyone else is talking about, check out his video here!

But have no fear, we have an actual discussion about important things pertaining to Overwatch this week also. This past week Jeff Kaplan went to the Overwatch forums to put a stop to the “Overwatch Needs a Mini-map” discussion. He had this to say, “We deliberately avoided adding a minimap. In games like CoD, HotS and LoL the minimap becomes an absolutely crucial, strategic advantage for those who divide their time looking at it. We also wanted to reserve “enemy awareness” moments for certain hero abilities like Widowmaker’s ultimate or Hanzo’s Sonar Arrow. We do plan to add a spectator map for a better esports viewing experience. But philosophically we were opposed to adding a minimap to the HUD for gameplay reasons.” Basically he said, NOPE. /mic drop. If you want to read the rest of the forums responses to Jeff, you can check that out here.

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The World of Warcraft Chronicles Volume 2 has been announced! It will be available on March 17th. If you are interested in purchasing the book, considering using one of our links here!

2.) We talk about last week’s Twitter poll of:#Icebox poll: Should #Warcraft Mythic regular dungeons be added to the LFG system? It can be found here!
3.) Another Legion Q&A is upon us! On February 23rd Ion will be sitting down at 1:30PM PST to do another Live Q&A on Twitch.tv/Warcraft. Don’t miss it!
4.) Coming in Patch 7.2 there will be some Artifact Power changes coming to the game that has the community pretty upset! You can check out this discussion here.

This week’s Twitter Poll!

It’s that time of the year again when we hear about what’s next for the Rock the Cabinet contest. This year brings a whole new concept by it being based around Co-op missions! If you are a Blizzard Arcade creator, take the time to read over the full details of the contest, and we will see you inside the StarCrade!

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: The Lotus Temple v 1.5
Type: Action
Creator:  Ajax
Details: This game is kind of like zealot hockey or maybe zealot soccer, well it’s definitely a sport of some kind with zealots. So how does this game play well there are 4 goals and 4 team members and 4 elements and 1 ball.  The object of the game is to use your elemental advantage to take out your enemies before they can score as well as control the ball and push it into one of the 4 goals.  There are a few dependencies on using action buttons to play this game so it makes scoring a little tricky but totally satisfying when you nail it. This game is still in its beginning states so it doesn’t have AI but is totally an interesting first iteration and is worth getting 8 people to compete with/against you. We kind of enjoyed this quirky game.

Heroes of the Storm News Banner

From the days of Blizzard All Stars, the Heroes of the Storm team has always enjoyed having a strong connection with World of Warcraft. And guess what?! That hasn’t changed! Starting February 14 until March 14 you will be able to receive the Flames of Judgement Charger Mount inside Heroes of the Storm when you complete 15 matches with Friends while using a World of Warcraft hero inside the Nexus! But wait… there’s more! If you do this, you will also get the Primal Flamesaber Mount inside World of Warcraft! Don’t waste time because this offer is too good to be true and will be gone before you know it! Check out the mounts below, and also check out all the details about this promotion in this article!

This past week information about an possible upcoming Hearthstone expansion was leaked online when one of the voice over actors posted that they worked on the project even though it hasn’t been announced yet! Based on the leaked resume online, it appears that an Ungoro based adventure is on the horizon for players. We both believe that we will be hearing a lot from Blizzard at the upcoming PAX East taking place in the next few weeks, and this will probably be one of those announcements. To find out more about this leak, you can check out this article here!

We’ve talked about it before, (thankfully not as much as Sombra) but rumors are still floating around the internet about Doomfist being the next hero in Overwatch. This time players have actually noticed some changes on the PTR featuring changes to the payload in Numbani, and posters hanging on the walls and much much more. If you want to find out more about these file changes, check out this video here!

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The Success of Legion. Activision Blizzard earnings report!
2.) Warcraft Blue’s plan to increase communication. The Blue Post!
3.) Wow Token to Battlenet Balance. Details.

Game: Risk 3D
Type: Risk
Creator: Orangeblue
Details: This game is just like the game of risk you know and love, and prolly were never the best at.  So how do we up the ante? Make this famous game work on a 3D rotating globe in the Starcade. Solid interface sometimes a little wonky on the controls but it is still fun to conquer the globe and with an AI that fights back you can do just that. Solid remake of a classic board game and totally worth trying.

Weekly Top 5

Top 5 Saltiest Roadhog  Change Comments

5.)Wow. Just wow, I HATE this guy with a passion. He’s not broken anymore, he’s just overpowered. I can hear the Roadhog mains now crying “why are you out of position?”, I’m NOT out of position. Roadhog is just broken, and can 1v1 all the heroes on the roster without a problem.
4.) Make another 100 threads about how he’s OP and maybe Blizzard will do something about it.
3.) About time you do something to Roadhog Why do you allow a character that goes against the whole point of this game to stay the way he is?
2.)Spamming these bullpoop threads is more fun than playing as or against this terrible mistake of a hero that is Roadhog.
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

“Can’t stop, won’t stop” should be one of the motto’s for the Heroes of the Storm team, mainly because they refused to stop making content for the game! Just shortly after the announcement of Valera coming to the game from World of Warcraft, the next hero is waiting on deck to enter the Nexus straight from Overwatch! Lucio will join Zarya and Tracter as the third hero to be added to the Nexus. He will bring a whole new play style of healing while he breaks it down, and boops players around the map. This different type of play style has just hit the PTR for everyone to check out!

Hearthstone is one of Blizzard’s only single players currently in their list of successful games, but that’s about to change on the esports scene. This past week it was announced that Blizzard will be hosting a new style of tournament that put players up against players from all over the world representing their own countries as a team. Does this change to the Hearthstone esports scene solve on the problems with the current state of the game? Find out more on this on the show as we talk about this article.

Following the Necromancer Q&A that happened a few weeks ago, Diablo has come out to let us know what else they are working on going forward for Patch 2.5.0! Instead of just gear upgrades, they will also be introducing a new armory feature in the game that allows players to create saved armory sets similar to World of Warcraft, and also making it so that new reagents that are gained are added directly to your stash verses filling up your bags. To find out more than about this besides our discussion on the show, you can check out this article here!

Hacking is not something new to Overwatch, and it’s not a new topic of discussion on the show. Every few weeks we talk about the different types of hacks and cheats that players are using in Overwatch. This week is no different unfortunately…. It’s been reported that in the month of January that over 32,000 Overwatch accounts have been banned for cheating in Korea alone! This plays into the fact that players in Korea don’t have to buy full versions of the game instead they actually pay a small fee in order to play per hour of the game inside their “PC Bangs” aka internet cafe’s. If you want to find out more information about the hacking problem in Korea, check out this article here!

World of Warcraft News Banner

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) Thousands of Warcraft accounts banned for botting. Details.
2.) The World First Race comes to an end! Congrats Exorsus! Details.
3.) Patch 7.2 Discussion — Incoming Legendaries!

Game: Line Tower Wars: Redux TD v1.3
Type: Tower Defense
Creator: Kida
Details: It’s a tower defense game, like all tower defense you build towers to defeat waves of enemies.  This however is the type of tower defense where your opponent spawns the waves of enemies by choice and you have to control how you upgrade your towers and the rate at which you spend your resources to build towers and spawn enemies.  As you spawn enemies you will get more resources every income phase which in turn helps you build and upgrade towers.  Try to put all that you can into a single upgrade tree for the towers so that you are not overrun by your enemies. This game has a solid AI and if you don’t get an early jump on it they will give you a good run for your money and it definitely makes the game worth playing by yourself.
