We’ve talked about it in weeks past wondering when we’d start to see big name sponsors and companies wanting to attach themselves to the Overwatch League. And this past week, we got a peak at just what they may look like in the future with Blizzard signing a contract with ESPN and Disney XD to stream the OWL Playoffs and finals on both of these platforms. It’s exciting for the league and fans alike!

It’s sad news any time anyone working at Blizzard decides to take a different career path and leave the company. This past week another Diablo team member has departed from the team, and this time it’s Senior Game Designer Travis Day. He announced it on his Twitter account that after 13 years of working with the company he is adventuring out to see what else the industry has to offer. But no matter where his path may take him, we are sad to see him go and excited to see what the next chapter may open in his life!

Coming offer last weeks Mango tease coming out of Brazil, we joked around about an expansion announcement coming this week. Well, Blizzard was like…. BOOOOOM expansion time! The next expansion for Hearthstone will be the Boomsday Project. This time we are traveling from the Witchwood to the Netherstorm in order to see what’s going on at the experimental labs. Everything’s coming up explody! Check out everything about the upcoming expansion tdoay!

Over the past few months the Heroes of the Storm community has been asking for an additional ban option in Competitive play. And their prayers have finally been answered! With the most recent patch, a third ban option has been added. With the hero pool always growing in Heroes of the Storm, they type of move is justified and much needed. But would this be an option in other Blizzard games like Overwatch? Find out our thoughts on a ban system within the first person shooter!

Not only did we think of some great ideas for Hero skins for Wrecking Ball, we basically wrote the material for Blizzard… But they didn’t listen! All we want in a clear Hampster ball skin for Hammond! But instead, we got a bunch of the same skins with a splash of a different color. But they may have made up for it all when they released the live drawing of one of the Wrecking Ball skins. It’s not Pokeball, or Probe, or even a crab skin, but we will take it!

Just when you thought this summer was already going fast, the World of Warcraft team hits you with a short notice, “Hey, btw pre-patch Tuesday!” We had a pretty good idea it was coming on July 17th, but there is still so much to achieve before the next expansion drops! So we hope you were able to collect your mounts before they went away, or got all of your mage tower appearances while you could. Happy Patch Day!

Since we are in the age of competitive esports talking on a more mainstream appearance and audience, two Blizzard games are going to be represented in the upcoming Asian Games taking place in Indonesia later this summer. Both StarCraft II and Hearthstone will be represented on the main stage along with other athletes competing in areas like track & field, swimming and more. It’s definitely awesome to see these two games taking the main stage, but we discuss our thoughts on esports being at an Olympic level.

With the Hearthstone community just waiting for the day we get an announcement about the first Hearthstone expansion to drop since the departure of Ben Brodes from Blizzard, the littlest thing gives the community hope. This past week the Hearthstone team teased an upcoming social gathering taking place in Brazil, but the community got a little too excited we were going to get an announcement. But Blizzard quickly stepped in to debunk those rumors. What when will we get a Hearthstone expansion announcement you ask? On typical Blizzard fashion… soon™️.

The Heroes of the Storm is becoming known for just pumping out awesome new and exciting content on a regular basis. They are quickly taken over StarCraft’s reign as best community communicating team at Blizzard. This past week they announced not one, but three upcoming Reddit AMAs dates. They will be answering questions about art and animation, matchmaking, and design over the next few months. So get your questions ready, we have ours ready to go!

Recently Blizzard rolled out a new feature in Overwatch that gives players the option to make custom groups using their Group Finder. What could possibly go wrong with this type of feature? The Overwatch community accepted the challenge and immediately started making groups to Throw matches, derank and just straight up troll their opponents. Normally we say to each their own, but this week, our conversation spills over from our main show and into the Frozen Nerdz After Dark discussion.

If you are new to World of Warcraft, or just want to a history lesson, now is your chance to get just that. A group of Developers, Designers and more sat down with the Wire to cover the History of World of Warcraft from an insider perspective. If you have 50 mins to spare, we definitely recommend checking it out!

We’ve talked about people selling in-game services like raid carries, boosts, arena wins, etc for real life money and the steps Blizzard took against those types of services. Well, as of late Blizzard has taken it a step further where they are no longer allowing in-game gold services to be listed in the in-game Group Finder. This comes from people selling their services cross servers which is requiring buyers to transfer gold, or it leads to real life money exchanges which are against the terms of service. This doesn’t mean you can’t sell them in trade or other looking for group chat channels. This is a step in the right direction, but how do you feel about this type of change?

Each and every week we scour news articles and Blue posts looking for this week’s Top 5 list! This week our Top 5 List comes from the Hearthstone universe. We discovered a lot of salt pertaining to recent stealth changes made to Hearthstone cards!

Top 5 Saltiest Hearthstone Players

5.) Can you please say something to justify making an arguably bad card worse (Tess) while not offering a refund?
4.) I don’t mean to be an !@#, but, didnt we get a dust refund when yogg got this exact same nerf? what changed?
3.) Just your daily reminder, that blizzard lied to us, and they need to publicly admit that fact, and apologize.
2.) They’re hoping people only focus on Tess and don’t notice the other stealth nerfs they made.
1.) *To hear #1, listen to this week’s episode!*

With the overwhelming success and structure of the Overwatch League, it brings into question what other Blizzard esports can do in order to keep the focus on them instead of other games within the genre. And it brings up the question on what the Heroes esports team can do in order to make HoTS thriving again. On this show we talk about what another esports organization did in order to bring their game back to the top. Would something like that work for Heroes and the HGC?

With recent talks about the Overwatch League adding more international teams, we start to wonder when will we see teams playing at other stadiums instead of just the Blizzard Arena in Burbank, CA. Well, recently Commissioner Nate sat down with ESPN to talk about having teams playing “home” games by 2020. This is a major step in the right direction, but how would that all work out? Find out more about this topic here!

We’ve been talking about it for months, but now it seems that the “unannounced Diablo” project is hiring specifically for it instead of it just being suggested and rumored. This is a step in the right direction, but don’t you find it funny that on Episode 209 we talked about how Diablo is working on something they just can’t say what? 😛

Hearthstone was in a little bit of hot water this past week when they announced that changes to cards were going live today. Normally Hearthstone is very open and forward about card changes, but this time around they didn’t say anything about it and just made changes. And that made the community a little bit… salty.

This past week the Heroes of the Storm team announced that the next hero headed to the Nexus will be Yrel! But that wasn’t the only thing that they announced, they also told us that they will be releasing a new Warcraft themed map called Alterac Pass! And with that, they were will be a new event coming called Echoes of Alterac! It’s a good time to be a fan of Warcraft and a player of Heroes of the Storm!

Overwatch still remains supreme when it comes to communication about what’s going on within the game. Besides just changes coming to Symmetra, we have a lot of new features that have been hinted about from Papa Jeff on his latest developer update. And one of those features is going to be the group finding feature that will allow players to make their own groups. But will that be good, or bad for the game? Find out more here!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) E3 will Host Blizzard storytelling in the Coliseum on June 13th
2.) Epic Battle grounds may reintroduce sites like Tol Barad and Wintergrasp
3.) Battle for Azeroth releasing Globally!

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past weeks in video games before we move onto talking about the Blizzard Arcade and DitchCon 2018 before moving onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion. This week we talk about the upcoming World of Warcraft Global MDI, and changes coming to the guild UI in Battle for Azeroth.

And then before you know it, it’s time for us to say our weekly goodbyes.

And then for our Patrons on Frozen Nerdz After Dark, we talk about the gambling in esports, communication from Blizzard, and much much more.

Here are a few ways you can do that!

Help make DitchCon 2018 possible! If you aren’t familar with it, DitchCon is the one true PARTY before BlizzCon, we are talking DJ playing the best music, bartenders serving the best drinks, and nerds as far as the eye can see! We talked about it on the show, but we want to make sure you have all the official information and the links needed to make it happen!

For more information about DitchCon 2018, check out their website.
To help support the event, check out their Kickstarter!

With Overwatch League being the hottest thing since sliced bread when it comes to esports, it doesn’t come as any surprise when the finals sold out after just a short time! The Inaugural Season of Overwatch League finals will be taking place at the Barclays Center in New York City where 20,000 fans will fill the stadium to cheer on the best in the Overwatch League. It’s definitely an exciting time for Blizzard esports and Overwatch as a whole. So make sure you tune in on July 27–28 for the finals! For more information about the finals, check out the press release.

Amateur players are always looking for a chance to break onto the competitive scene and make a name for themselves. And most of them will take any chance they can to make a little money along the way. And recently, one of the tournament websites that gave players a chance at paid competition decided to close it’s doors. But it did so without paying out the money it owed players. Should sites this be allowed to function and should Blizzard implement something like this for themselves that gives players a chance to fund they journey to the top? Find out more about our thoughts on this topic on the show!

Finally a WCS tournament has come back to the States! And this time in typical StarCraft fashion Dreamhack Austin was swarmed with Zerg players trying to take home the championship, and the ever elusive WCS points. But, the community had some questions about WHY there were so many Zerg players (almost double) than Protoss or Terran? Does that mean Zerg needs to be balanced better to prevent this from happening again, or is this just time for the Zerg to shine?! Find out our feelings on the topic on this week’s show!

It’s happened! The Diablo team has spoken up about something being worked on in the background. Maybe they decided to say something since the players of Sanctuary were starting to get as restless as the demons. But communication is good and we appreciate it. But what will be next for Diablo?

The latest card back has been revealed for the month of June and it seems to be beaming with arcane energy. But what does that mean!? It means we are getting an awesome Blue Dragonflight inspired card back and maybe a tease at whats to come in the Year of the Raven! We’ve talked about it before, but this points at towards a new Hearthstone expansion possibly being on the horizon here shortly. So make sure you put on your tinfoil hats before listening to this episode!

It’s happened before, but now the Heroes of the Storm esports team and Blizzard are taking a stand against it. And this time Relic from the Korean Team GLuck has been suspended for trying to poach players from other teams! Relic will be suspended from the Heroes Global Championship (HGC) for one year, fined USD $1,500, and must give up his ownership of the team. Is this a step in the right direction for Heroes esports? Find out our thoughts on the topic on this week’s show.

With June being Pride Month, it comes at no surprise that Blizzard and Overwatch would be participating in the celebration of diversity! And this year, they will be hosting Pride Day at the Blizzard Arena in Burbank, CA on Saturday, June 9th! And want some better news? They are also going to be hosting Pride Day celebration parties around the world in places like Houston, TX, New York City, NY, Seattle, WA, and London, England! To find out more about the celebration, check out the press release!

Have you ever wanted to see MORE of the maps you can play in Overwatch? Nows your chance! One user recorded a video showing off the range of the maps and how detailed Blizzard went when creating this maps within the Overwatch Universe. Check it out here!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The MDI Global Finals begin June 22nd
2.) Changes coming to the Guild UI in Battle for Azeroth

When it comes to esports, a lot of time the success is measured by what we can see: the number of viewers. Recently, Fortnite came onto the scene as one of the hottest games and this past week Epic Games announced that they are going to be funneling $100 million into their future esports prize pools. But before any of that even happened, Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA team the Dallas Mavericks, spoke out saying that he’s questioning the success of the Overwatch League and believes that Fortnite is pulling away the viewers. But is that really true? Find out our thoughts on this week’s show!

With recent changes to a group of cards within Hearthstone, players have had to make major adjustments to their decks. Find out how our decks are surviving and if we have had to make any adjustments.

Last week on the show we discussed the possibility of Sombra coming to the Nexus, and the most recent event called, “Nexomania” all things point at it being the prefect time for her to hack her way into the Nexus. But before any of that can happen, we must all step into the ring and see who the next challenger is! Check out the new seasonal event skins for Lunara, Diablo, Sonya, Garrosh, and much much more! Check out all the details here.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OVERWATCH!!!! And to celebrate, the Overwatch Anniversary event is upon us. And this year, they are giving us a second chance to collect all the previous holiday loot that we may have missed, and a chance to replay the past event Holiday brawls! To find out more about the Anniversary, check out the announcement page!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The 5 million gold mount costs how much IRL!?
2.) New Comic – Jaina: Reunion

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Endurance v1.1
Type: Strategy
Creator: XDarkEndX
Details: The map is designed for two players. Six enemy forces lie along the map from east to west. As the mission continues, each enemy force activated over time with increasingly higher difficulty levels set to their AI script. The players have the objectives of defeating all enemy forces.
Kilroy’s Review: “I was excited for this map it even said it had AI scripts in it so it had to be good right? Well I guess by AI they meant gatherers collecting resources waiting for you to come and kick their heads in.  But since the name of the map was endurance it was best to make it a good show and take over the whole map and consume all of the resources before realizing that even if you kill all of the AI forces there is no win condition and you basically are just stuck waiting for a win screen that will never come… sad day.”

Episode 207 – “Lore Overload”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 207 called “Lore Overload.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, May 20th, 2018.

On this week’s show, we quickly go over our past week in video games before we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion. This week we start off talking about Overwatch Contenders, and an upcoming Hearthstone cosplay competition. Then we talk about card changes coming to Hearthstone, could the next hero headed to the Nexus be Sombra, Overwatch hits 40 million players, Pink Mercy hits almost $10 million raised, and the Overwatch anniversary event is coming. Then we move onto talking about World of Warcraft. This week we talk about a Before the Storm preview, character limits increased, and BFA messing up the Lore…. again.

In the world of Overwatch, there is always something going on when it comes to esports! With the action just heating up in the Overwatch League and the talks of more teams being added to the roster. Within Overwatch Contenders, we have some awesome teams making waves down under in Sydney with the Drop Bears sweeping the league. Not only did they beat some of the best teams, they are also representing their country in the finals. To find out more about Overwatch Contenders, check out this article here!

It’s not everyday we hear about a new Cosplay Competition going on, and this time its coming from the Hearthstone Universe. So bust out your cardboard, scissors and watercolors and let the fun begin! This competition is only available for European listeners, but you will win an awesome Hearthstone cosplay prop, a paid trip to Gamescom and much much more! For more details, check out the announcement.

Just when the Hearthstone meta was starting to heat up, and the decks were starting to get set in stone, Blizzard decided it was time to shake up the meta a little by nerfing a few cards. Changes are being made to Naga Sea Witch, Spiteful Summoner, Possessed Lackey, Dark Pact, Call to Arms, and The Caverns Below. For more full details, you can either hear about it on the show or check out the main announcement.

With all the hype going on right now in the Nexus and adding lore, a lot of people are thinking that there is more going on behind the scenes instead of just the normal Blizzard media releases. People think that with the most recent HGC event, at the end of the overall broadcast there was some “static” that appeared on the screen that suggested that Sombra was hacking into the system. Is it another Sombra ARG, or just the community going crazy for content again? Find out more about this “event” here.

We’ve talked about it before, but it appears that Overwatch has increased to 40 million players world wide. And with the 2nd anniversary on it’s way, that’s an amazing feat to reach! The Anniversity event will bring back ALL previous events and skins. So now will be the time to play some Junerksteins Revenge, or Uprising Retribution some more. But with announcements, there are always leaks that happens. So if you want to check out all the new skins coming for this event, check out this article. If not, wait until Tuesday when the event goes live.

The chance to buy your own Pink Mercy Skin has passed, but that doesn’t mean the impact wasn’t reached. It was reported that almost $10 million was raised for Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It will be interesting to see how much was raised from T-shirt sales, Twitch donations and bit donations.

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) A preview of Before the Storm by Christie Golden.

2.) Per Realm Character Limit increased to 18

3.) Alternate Timelines coming in Battle for Azeroth

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Gandalf v0.2
Type:  Arena
Creator: Acaraco
Details: Who is da true Gandalf?
Kilroy’s Review: “This is a simple arena style map with one purpose to pick up the ring of power and become the one true Gandalf.  Using spells that will make themselves available as you play and kill your opponents you can play keep away while holding the Ring in hopes of making it to a cumulative 240 seconds.  The AI does not fight back so I wouldn’t recommend going it alone otherwise the game will be really boring.”

Top 5 Saltiest Charity Haters

5.) But locking this great and new skin behind a paywall is more than disgusting!
4.) That’s the first time I’ve seen a game ask for a minimum of a 15$ for a charity. Seems Blizz truely lives in a bubble.
3.) Too much money for Mercy; would have paid 15 for pink granny.
2.) whatever it’s for a good cause and all, but I don’t have $20 to drop on a card for Blizzard

The first two rounds of BlizzCon tickets went on sale, and within a total of 19 mins, all general admission tickets have been sold. But if you missed out on your shot to get tickets, there is still a chance to get the Benefit Dinner ticket when they go on sale Wednesday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. PDT through Universe. These tickets do cost $750 per ticket, which includes a BlizzCon ticket, but all the proceeds raised will be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. If you are interested in the Benefit tickets, head here. If you want to see if there are any tickets available for purchase, keep checking out the LFBlizzCon.com page.

We’ve talked about the upcoming expansion of the Overwatch League, and now the math and the cost behind the scenes has come out. It appears that the first 12 teams that join the Overwatch League each paid in a total of $20 million USD to join. And future teams will be looking at the cost of $30-60 million USD to join the league. The price change comes as the interest in the league increases. The teams within the Overwatch League are valued at $120-160 million USD right now. So the chance for growth is there, but who is going to be shelling out the $30-60 million to join in the next season of the Overwatch League? Only time will tell. On this episode, we talk about a few different teams we wouldn’t mind seeing, and discuss the overall topic a lot more.

It’s not really StarCraft news per say, but it’s defiantly a good StarCraft related read. So if you want to learn more about the history of how the game became a game, check out this PC Gamer article today! It’s a solid read!

Currently in Hearthstone there are a lot of cards and decks that just seem to have a higher win rate than others, and because of that the community has been demanding more balance come to Hearthstone. But the Hearthstone team weighs in on this topic saying its a mix between feelings and metrics. Meaning that they only make adjustments if it feels right to the play style of the game, and it has to be supported by metrics to back the reasoning behind it. The example they say is that if a deck wins 65% of the time, it feels good for the person playing it, but not so much for the person playing against it. But instead of nerfing the winning deck, what about increasing the win rate of the losing deck. Because if people are always losing, they won’t keep playing. Who needs facts when you can just act on your feelings?!

This past week, we got two major announcements from the Heroes of the Storm team! And that means, some major reworks coming to both Diablo and Lunara. And some new skins of the two fo them. These reworks are going to be a more frequent thing coming out of the Heroes of the Storm team in order to balance the heroes in the game instead of always funneling new ones into the roster. And that’s definitely important. And it’s good to see that the Lord of Destruction was one of the first ones on their lists to get done.

And it has come and gone, and most of you didn’t even know it was happening this year. But the Heroes of the Dorm competition has crowded a new champion this past week in the Blizzard Arena. And this time around it wasn’t an American team that won the whole thing, but the Canadian University Laval that took home the scholarship money! To read more all about it, check out this article for recaps of that matches.

If you like new Mercy skins, and supporting a good cause, the Overwatch team has a deal for you! You can get the new Pink Mercy skin today for just $14.99 USD and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). You can also pick up the $30 limited edition Pink Mercy shirt on the Blizzard Gear store. And by watching up to 6 hours of select Overwatch streams on Twitch, you can also get some exclusive BCRF sprays for use inside the game.

But with a good thing, there is always going to be salt and controversy. And it appears that Sony is at the front of the lines this time because on their PlayStation store is shows that only a portion of the proceeds will be going to the BCRF/Blizzard.

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) WoW Gold worth more than the national currency of Venezuela
2.) Changes coming to WoW PVP ranks/rewards
3.) Arrested and receiving Jail Time for DDOSing WoW Servers.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Beast of the Hill v1.0
Type: King of the Hill
Creator: Pinny
Details: “Beast of the hill is a free for all mod where you have to stand on the red dot at the center of the map to score points!  Be the last man standing or collect enough points to win!”
Kilroy’s Review: “Fun concept simple RTS style with a center king of the hill theme.  Overall a solid built map, it doesn’t take away too much from the original SC2 game but a good mod nonetheless.  The AI doesn’t attempt to sit in the dot but it does like to attack your base relentlessly which is basically the other win condition so I guess there is AI even if it isn’t created by the developer.”

Episode 205 – “In Blizzard’s World”

Welcome to the Frozen Nerdz Podcast Episode 205 called “In Blizzard’s World.” We are your Blizzard Entertainment discussion podcast. The show you are about to hear was recorded on Sunday, May 6th, 2018.

On this week’s show, we go over our past week in video games before we move onto our Blizzard Entertainment discussion. This week we start off talking about Overwatch League sponsorships and championships. Then we move onto talking about a new set of StarCraft maps coming to rotation, Diablo gets an update on console, Noblegarden coming to Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm introduces the Dark Nexus, and then we talk about hackers being punished in Overwatch. Then we move onto talking about World of Warcraft. This week we talk about a crazy live action Horde versus Alliance event, and a new developer interview about the story behind Battle for Azeroth.

But no episode would be complete without us talking about a Blizzard Arcade game and this week we are talking about one called Heaven Besieged Infinite! And then before you know it, it’s time for us to say our weekly goodbyes.

We also talk about our BlizzCon ticket experiences from years past, and our worse BlizzCon experiences on Frozen Nerdz After Dark!

We’ve talked about it before wondering when we’d start seeing teams get sponsored by larger organizations and the time is now! This past week it was announced that the best team in the Overwatch League, the Houston Outlaws,  will be taking on the first major sponsor as they are now signed with T-Mobile. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise since T-Mobile is a major sponsor of all Blizzard events, including the Overwatch League. But this is a big step for our favorite team, and a great direction for the Overwatch League and esports everywhere.

Also in Overwatch League news, this past weekend we had the Stage 3 playoffs and finals.n The four teams that advanced were the LA Valiant, LA Gladiators, Boston Uprising, and the New York Excel. After some major competition, the final two teams that were left standing was the undefeated Boston Uprising, and the New York Excel. But only one team could take home the $100,000 cash prize, and once again the New York Excel prove that they are still the number one team in the Overwatch League.

With Season 2 of 2018 upon us in StarCraft II, we have new exciting maps upon us! You will definitely want to check them out for yourself. Words can not describe the awesomeness of Dreamcatcher! Here’s a gallery of them all!

If you are like us and just clinging to the change to hear ANYTHING from the Diablo team, now is your chance to be excited and disappointed all at the same time! This past week it was announced that Diablo III for console (PS4/XboxOne/etc), are now up to date with the PC version of the game! This is great for console players, but saddening for Diablo fans everywhere wondering if this marks the end of the game as a whole, or are we just in a holding pattern until the next big thing happens?!

Just when you finally finished off your Easter candy, Hearthstone decides to bring back memories of regret and disappointment! It’s a Witchwood Curse we swear!!! But on May 9th to the 13th, we will be getting the Noble Garden Tavern Brawl which will give away TWO GOLDEN CARDS!!! Even if you don’t care about this cards, they quickly become dust and turned into new cards of your liking! So if you want to collect eggs and paint them, check out the Noblegarden event!

Epic talked about it on the Frozen Nerd Report, but we wanted to make sure everyone knew about the latest in the Nexus. This past week we got the Ravenlord Comic, the Dark Nexus event preview, and then a 7 minute developer insight into the Lore of the Nexus. Besides just getting Deckard Cain, it’s a good time to be in the Nexus collecting loot, destroying towers and enjoying the story!

It’s been a few weeks (Maybe even months!) since the last time we talked about Hackers and cheaters in Overwatch. But now we are finally getting some justice because the South Korean government is punishing 13 people in connection to hacking in Overwatch. One receiving jail time and being fined up to $10,000 USD for violating the user agreement from Blizzard. This is major steps in the right direction to cut down on the illegal activity, but when will we see something like this happen in the United States? Listen to the Nerdz discussion about just that and more on this week’s episode!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) Live Action Horde versus Alliance in Czech forest.
2.) Developer interview with John Hight, World of Warcraft Production Director, about Battle for Azeroth.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Heaven Besieged Infinite
Type: Strategy
Creator: keenan
Details: “Heaven must hold out with limited units until God arrives to help.  Hell must destroy the throne of heaven without losing their prime evils.”

Kilroy’s Review: “A cool concept if you play with a full group of humans,  there is no prebuilt AI to take control of the different portions of the game and so it is only you charging in to assault the enemies bases.  Which ultimately makes this game play like a simulation where how long can you throw X at Y before you win. Seems like a cool concept and probably a very solid strategy game.”

With Overwatch League in full swing, viewers have started to notice a trend in the matches that has been taking place so far. It’s the same heroes on each team, and each team is running their own version of “Dive Comp.” Dive Comp is a super aggressive team make up that takes all of your fast moving heroes and throws them quickly at the first point on a map. And usually consists of the same heroes like, Genji, Tracer, Zenyatta, Mercy, Lucio, Dva, Winston, etc. And because of this, a lot of people have started to stop watching the Overwatch League due to the repetitiveness. On this weeks show, we discuss changes that can be made, or heroes that could be added to help prevent this same compensation of heroes.

Back at BlizzCon 2014, we sat down and talked with the Blizzard Arcade team and they discussed the possibility of premium content coming to the Arcade to benefit creators. And with the arrival of the StarCraft II Patch 4.3.0 notes, it appears that we already have two premium Blizzard Arcade games available for purchase for $4.99. And in a recent interview about the topic, it was stressed that the major of the money made will be going to creators. With it only being two games, it’s definitely a system that is being tested, and we hope of the sake of content creators within the Blizzard Arcade,  it’s here to stay. To check out the maps available for purchase, or to learn more about the new premium content, check out the official press release.

With the release of The Witchwood within Hearthstone, we didn’t expect to get anything more than a new expansion, but boy were we wrong! This past week, the Monster Hunts was released as a new set of dungeon crawlers within the game. Similar to those that came with Kobolds and Catacombs, you play a set boss, or in this case Monster, and play as one of four Monster Hunters. It’s a great way to test your Hearthstone skills, and to level up heroes you may not play very often. But don’t take our word for it, check it out for yourself today!

We have complained about her before, and we may be complaining about her more in the future. But thankfully Blizzard is taking a look at another major Symmetra rework coming. This time focusing on her lock on beam, her turrets, her ultimates, her teleporter, and her alternate fire. So basically everything! This comes as a great relief since she has become a problem for most in comp and quick play. But will her changes make her more violable or less? The only way to find out is to check her out for yourself when the changes go live on the PTR. Find out how the Nerdz felt by listening to this weeks episode!

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) The Battle For Azeroth Beta is now live! Make sure you are opt-ed in today so you can join us within the beta!
2.) The Latest Battle for Azeroth Developer Q&A Recap.

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: Woof 1.7
Type: Hide and Seek
Creator: Samo
Kilroy’s Description: “Yikes, tried to queue alone, just a black map! I mean I want to play this game I want to love this game but I’m not sure how! I know the game is still in development so it has a chance to become a great game, as far as it stands you are either a dog or a zealot and the dogs have to hide from the zealots.”

This past week it was announced that Activision Blizzard has a deal with Nielsen, the global measurement and data analytics company,  to track and value esports brand investments. The company will begin tracking with Overwatch League, the Overwatch World Cup, and Overwatch Contenders this year, along with Activision’s Call of Duty World League. It is estimated that esports has an economy of $906 million this year with the majority of that revenue coming from Sponsors and Advertisers. Does this mean will see a rise in new sponsors for events? Find out more about this partnership and research here.

With everyone’s eyes on the Overwatch League right now, and gamers asking themselves everywhere how do they get into the Overwatch League, the answer is actually pretty easy, but the road is a little rough. It all starts with Overwatch Contenders, which is basically the Amateur/Minor League for Overwatch, and we have moved from regular play into our playoff season already. If you want to see the who may be moving over to the Overwatch League soon, check out the Overwatch Contenders today!

A lot of people have been talking about World of Warcraft esports for some time, and now we have the Mythic Dungeon Invitational upon us! Check out all the latest hot PVE action in the recent China and Asian Pacific regional weekends as we move into the European weekend this coming week. Which team will reign supreme?! Find out more here.

It’s a sad week for the Hearthstone team as well as the Blizzard Entertainment community as a whole. It was announced this week that Hamilton Chu, the Hearthstone’s Executive Producer, will be leaving the company. But unfortunately, he’s not the only person who’s leaving. The Hearthstone Game Director and elemental rapper Ben Brode also announced his departure from the team and Blizzard Entertainment. Brode was more of a community facing member of the team whereas Chu was more behind the scenes, but we have a feeling that both of them will be working together in the near future and something new and exciting is on the horizon. From both of us here at Frozen Nerdz, we wish them the best!

With Heroes of the Dorm in full effect, we put ourselves against each other to see which Nerd will be the best bracket picker in the land! Check out the official bracket here, Kilroy’s bracket here, and Epicinsanity’s bracket here.

Epic talked about it last week, and then this week it was revealed on the PTR that the map from Archives: Retribution will be a new escort map in Overwatch! The Rialto map is just in the basic stages of testing and appears to be overly unbalanced and favors snipers. But the map itself is beautiful and we are excited to see more of what it has in store on the PTR. Check out more about the latest patch here.

Normally, we would talk about the Overwatch League in our esports section, but this week we had more to talk about when it comes to the Dallas Fuel. It was announced this past week that the Fuel have let go of their coach KyKy, and their Korean DPS player Rascal. Players and coaches being replaced or let go isn’t anything new to esports, or sports in general. But the way that Rascal was let go has a lot of people in the community fired up about it so we figured it was best for us to weigh in on the discussion. In the press release the Dallas Fuel said, “We had hoped that Rascal could add flexibility to our DPS lineup on the team this season. Unfortunately, his commitment to the team did not meet our expectations and his unwillingness to communicate with the team while playing in recent matches became a large distraction.” Since Rascal is a Korean speaker player, and the rest of his team is English speaking, there are going to be communication issues. But instead of working on them, the Dallas Fuel decided to replace him. The LA Gladiator’s player Fissure weighed in on this topic on his “talk show.” To find out more about the Dallas Fuel Roster changes, check out the press release.

This week we discussion the following topics about World of Warcraft:

1.) Early Looks at each of the major battles: LordaeronTeldrassil
2.) War Mode will be replacing PVP servers

Each week we pick a game from the endless library of the Blizzard Arcade to test them out and help the listeners find some awesome stupidly fun games.

Game: The Walking Dead v0.11
Type:  Puzzle
Creator:  SoulScream
Details: “You must find the best option for victory.”
Kilroy’s Review: “Honestly the game was easy to cheese but there was a point where you will get stuck and will not be able to go any further the design idea is cool however the overall completeness of the game is still kind of a beta.  Fun still I had to play it 2 times once i found the healing pool that let you cheese the game.”
Epicinsanity’s Review: “Overall the game was a little rough, the concept was there. But since it’s a 12v12 game, without AI that assists, it was a little harder to understand and advance. It’s a survival game that is built with Warcraft III assists. The whole point of the game is to block off doors to prevent zombies (undead npc’s) from zerg rushing you. I got to play as Arthas, and there were some other warcraft related players in the mix. It appears to be a remake of Stratholme.”
